About the Role

As an AI Backend Engineer, youll own core backend and infrastructure systems that power companys orchestration layer. This is a high-ownership role where youll design foundational primitives, define workflow state models, and ship to production quickly. Youll work closely with the founders, frontend engineers, product, andcriticallycustomers to ensure our systems work reliably in real production environments with real edge cases and failure modes.

Responsibilities

• Design and build stateless backend services using Python and FastAPI
• Define durable workflow state models based on real customer workflows
• Integrate AI agents into reliable execution pipelines
• Build event-driven asynchronous systems (queues, schedulers, background jobs)
• Own prompt engineering and production LLM integrations
• Design clean, well-structured APIs consumed by frontend systems and AI agents
• Work directly with customers to:

• Understand how workflows fail in practice
• Debug real production issues
• Iterate rapidly based on feedback
• Ensure systems are observable, debuggable, and resilient
• Operate backend and AI infrastructure end-to-end

Qualifications

Strong backend engineering experience (5+ years preferred)

Required Skills

• Deep proficiency in Python and backend system design
• Experience modeling durable, explicit state for asynchronous workflows
• Practical, production experience with LLMs and prompt engineering
• Comfort working directly with customers and reasoning about real-world workflows
• Ability to turn ambiguous problems into clean, scalable system designs
• Startup mindset: high ownership, fast iteration, comfort with ambiguity

Preferred Skills

• Experience with workflow engines (Temporal, Prefect, n8n, LangGraph, Agno)
• Event sourcing or strongly event-driven architectures
• Open-source LLMs
• B2B SaaS or sales-tech experience
