Job Description
Research Project entitled Assessing Climate Change Risk, Vulnerability, and Adaptation among Tribal Communities in India: An Exploratory Study on Indigenous knowledge and resilience
Title of the Post: Project Research Scientist
Number of Posts: 01
Duration: 1 year (extendable based on performance)
Essential Qualifications: Ph.D in Anthropology / Sociology / Environmental Studies / Social Work or related disciplines, experience in qualitative fieldwork, preferably with tribal or rural communities
Desirable Qualifications:
- Prior experience conducting FGDs, IDIs, and community-based research
- Experience working on climate change, adaptation, vulnerability, or indigenous knowledge
- Proficiency in regional languages of field sites i.e Odisha and Rajasthan
- Skills in NVivo/Atlas.ti
- Experience writing reports, manuscripts, and policy briefs
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead fieldwork in selected tribal communities across project states
- Build rapport with community leaders, tribal councils, and local NGOs
- Conduct qualitative data collection: in-depth interviews, FGDs, community mapping
- Coordinate with local institutions and government bodies for permissions
- Prepare field activity reports and contribute to qualitative analysis
- Prepare reports, literature reviews, and draft publications
- Support PI in dissemination workshops and community feedback meetings
