Project Manager (Engine Design)

The Design Project Manager oversees the entire design process from conceptualization to delivery, ensuring projects meet quality, time, and budget requirements. They facilitate communication between clients and the design team to clearly understand project objectives, revisions, and approvals.

Responsibilities:

• Design Oversight for products within the project scope: Responsible for design relevant target achievement and design release.
• Project Planning: Develop detailed project plans, including timelines in co-ordination with Project Manager and Project Managers Partial of allocated skill areas. Align detailed budgets, and resource allocation with Lead Engineers Design. This activity will be supported by the Lead Engineer Product.
• Team Coordination and Communication: Lead and coordinate the design team, ensuring all members understand the project targets and their tasks, roles and responsibilities. Establish meeting structure according to the design process.
• Client Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for the client (incl. residents) for related design topics, managing expectations and compromises. Additionally supports the technical acquisition in the sales phase for additional project scope and new projects.
• Quality Control: Ensure the compliance to the design process and justify any intentional deviations. Initiate the design related tasks to reach the design release including all necessary checks, documentation and deliverables. Monitor design progress and quality including change management, adjusting as necessary to meet standards.
• Risk Management: Consider risk mitigation measures identified during project risk assessment and identify additional potential risks.
• Budget Management: Oversee project budgets related to design, ensuring costs are controlled and financial objectives are met. Timely escalation of scope, budget and timing deviations to the Project Manager and allocated Skill Team Leaders. Support the initiation of variation requests.
• Resource Allocation: Allocate resources effectively to ensure project milestones are achieved. Utilize internal monitoring and prediction tool.
• Documentation: Is responsible for comprehensive project documentation (project deliverables), including reports and updates. Ensures the maintenance of design relevant requirements and specification documents and the filling of the Powertrain Database (PTDB).
• Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with stakeholders to gather requirements and provide project updates. Drive technical decisions internally as well as externally and prepare the basis for decision-making.
• Problem-Solving: Pick-up issues and mutually develop solutions with stakeholders. Initiate and drive the decision process for technological, timing and cost critical topics related to design but in co-ordination with all skills. This process will be supported by the Lead Engineer Product Design.
• Compliance: Ensure all projects comply with industry standards, regulations and safety requirements.
• Innovation: Supports the know-how transfer across the teams. Encourage innovative solutions and creative approaches within the team. Drives potential patent applications in co-ordination with Lead Engineer Product. Initiates patent investigations to avoid any infringements in co-operation with patent department.
• Performance Evaluation: Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members and line managers.
• Post-Project Review: Conduct post-project reviews together with Lead Engineer Product to identify areas for improvement and communicate to the executive summary to the line management.
• Supplier Management: Orchestrates the supplier meetings in co-ordination with component engineers (if available) depending on HW-generation requirements.
