Job Summary

We are looking for a Project Accountant with 110 years of experience to manage and control the financial aspects of projects. The role involves project budgeting, cost tracking, revenue recognition, billing, forecasting, and financial reporting. The candidate will partner closely with Project Managers and Finance teams to ensure project profitability, financial accuracy, and compliance with accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities

Project Financial Control

• Prepare and maintain project budgets, cost plans, and forecasts
• Track and analyze project costs, revenues, margins, and variances
• Monitor WIP, accruals, provisions, and revenue leakage
• Ensure accurate cost allocation and capitalization where applicable

Billing & Revenue Recognition

• Responsible for project billing (T&M, Fixed Price, Milestone-based)
• Ensure compliant revenue recognition as per Ind AS / IFRS / US GAAP
• Reconcile billed vs unbilled revenue and deferred income

Accounting & Reporting

• Maintain accurate project accounting records in ERP systems
• Prepare monthly project financial reports and dashboards
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing
• Analyze project profitability and provide management insights

Stakeholder Management

• Work closely with Project Managers to review financial health
• Communicate financial risks, cost overruns, and corrective actions
• Coordinate with AP, AR, Payroll, Tax, and Audit teams

Compliance & Audit

• Ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls
• Support internal/external audits and statutory requirements
• Assist in process improvements and automation initiatives

Required Qualifications

Education

• Bachelors degree in Commerce / Accounting / Finance
• CA / CMA / MBA (Finance) or Inter qualification good to have

Experience

• 110 years of experience in Project Accounting / Cost Accounting
• Experience in IT Services, Consulting, Engineering, EPC, or Shared Services preferred
• Senior candidates expected to independently handle multiple large projects

Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of project accounting and cost controls
• Advanced MS Excel skills (Pivot Tables, Lookups, Formulas)
• Understanding of revenue recognition standards

Behavioural Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Good communication and stakeholder management abilities
• Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines

Nice to Have

• Experience with global/multi-entity projects
• Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Dynamics, etc.)
• Exposure to Power BI or financial dashboards
• Knowledge of automation tools or process optimization
