About the project
Availability and delivery of mental health services in primary healthcare settings is integral to improving access to mental health services in India. In 2018, Government of India included mental health services, one of the twelve service packages, in service delivery framework through Ayushman Bharat - Health and Wellness Centres - now Aarogya Mandir (AAMs). Despite ongoing efforts to improve accessibility and quality of care, mental health services in primary care in India faces several structural and intrinsic challenges such as undefined referral pathways, scarcity of skilled mental health workforce coupled with poor mental health literacy, and inadequate help-seeking.
PATH is providing Technical Assistance to the national government and 10 state governments in rolling out mental health care services at primary care level. It also involves capacity building, supporting systems preparedness, and providing technical and operational assistance at district level in ten selected states.
About the position
PATH is currently seeking a Program Associate – Mental Health on Third Party Payroll- (Randstad) to provide technical and programmatic support to the existing projects of mental health sub-vertical under Technology, Innovation, and Systems Strengthening (TIS) portfolio at PATH. The Program Associate will specifically support in project management, documentation, data verification, analysis, reporting, coordination with teams at state and district levels, desk research for development of knowledge products and strategy documents related to integrating mental health services in primary care across 10 states in India. Experience of working in mental health projects in primary care settings and with the public health system is therefore highly preferable.
Responsibilities:
Work closely with PATH teams for mental health and primary health care at national and state levels towards providing technical assistance to the national government and 10 state governments in rolling out mental health care services at primary care level.
Support roll-out for the program and undertake field trips wherever required to support program implementation and monitoring.
Coordinate with state teams to track progress and support required on specific activities and lead program documentation and maintenance of updated program protocols, status, and reports.
Contribute to developing of evidence briefs and reviews, policy briefs, program reports, manuscripts, concept notes and proposals relevant to the program.
Contribute to collection, verification, management, and analysis of the data along with reporting.
Support the team in coordinating the project management process internally within PATH & external stakeholders.
Establish and maintain strong working partnerships with all project partners and stakeholders.
Deliver any other need-based tasks as requested by the program leadership.
Required Experience and qualifications:
Master’s degree in clinical psychology /psychiatry /public health /health administration and related fields
2-4 years of experience in program management, coordination, or field implementation.
Demonstrated experience of managing and delivering on timelines with tight deadlines.
Experience in projects that involve liaising with government institutions and private sector players/corporates/healthcare providers/NGOs.
Familiarity with Indian public health system, flagship initiatives and relevant government policies relevant to public health, mental health, Ayushman Arogya Mandir, etc.
Skills/ Abilities:
Excellent analytical, communication, presentation and report writing skills.
Excellent skills in facilitation, team building and coordination.
Proven ability to handle multiple tasks and collaborate work effectively with diverse stakeholders including government officials, local institutions, and others.
Ability to work in a complex environment, short deadlines, and an emphasis on quality.
Proficiency with MS Office applications, especially MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint
Fluency in English and Hindi.
