Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Civil/Finishes Engineer to join our team for a commercial greenfield development project. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing civil works and architectural finishes, ensuring compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and review civil engineering designs including site grading, drainage systems, utilities infrastructure, and pavement design
  • Oversee architectural finishes including flooring systems, wall treatments, ceiling installations, and special interior/exterior finishes
  • Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and MEP teams to ensure integrated design solutions
  • Prepare technical specifications, drawings, and construction documents
  • Conduct site inspections and quality control reviews during construction phases
  • Review contractor submittals, RFIs, and change orders
  • Perform engineering calculations and analyses to support design decisions
  • Participate in value engineering exercises to optimize cost-effectiveness while maintaining quality
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, accessibility requirements, and sustainability standards
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets related to civil works and finishes
  • Provide technical leadership to junior engineering staff

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • 5+ years of experience in civil engineering and architectural finishes for commercial projects
  • Demonstrated experience with greenfield commercial development projects
  • Experience with permitting processes and regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge of construction methodologies and sequencing
  • Experience with cost estimation and value engineering
  • Background in quality assurance/quality control procedures

Essential Skills

  • Strong technical knowledge of site development, drainage design, and utility systems
  • In-depth understanding of architectural finishes including flooring systems, wall finishes, and ceiling treatments
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, BIM, and other relevant engineering software
  • Expert knowledge of interior finish materials, specifications, and installation methods
  • Experience supervising finish carpentry installations including millwork and cabinetry
  • Knowledge of paint systems, specialty coatings, and application methods
  • Familiarity with acoustic treatments and sound attenuation systems
  • Experience with floor covering installations including terrazzo, tile, carpet, resilient flooring, and poured systems
  • Understanding of ceiling systems including suspended ceilings, drywall, and specialty installations
  • Knowledge of interior partition systems, glazing, and door/hardware specifications
  • Experience with specialty finishes such as decorative metals, stone, wood veneers, and custom treatments
  • Ability to evaluate finish material samples and mockups for quality and conformance to specifications
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong project management skills
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional quality control focus
  • Advanced mathematical and computational skills
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents and specifications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and project management software

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to visit construction sites regularly (may include walking on uneven terrain, climbing ladders, and navigating active construction areas)
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions during site visits
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record
