Role Summary

Provide architectural leadership for the modernization of Payments. Translate wholesale banking payment requirements into secure, scalable solutions leveraging cloud, microservices, APIs, and integration frameworks. Partner with product, delivery, and client stakeholders to ensure solutions meet functional, regulatory, and non-functional criteria.

Key Responsibilities

• Solutioning & Design
• Own end-to-end architecture for payments modules
• Define service decomposition, API contracts, and data models for ISO 20022, SWIFT MT/MX, ACH, RTGS, and cross-border flows.
• Create and maintain application roadmaps, capability maps, and reference architectures aligned to modernization goals.
• Ensure all designs comply with security, compliance, and audit obligations (PCI DSS, GDPR, SOX).
• Stakeholder Engagement
• Lead workshops with business/IT teams; map customer journeys and payment processes to technical solutions.
• Produce RFI/RFP responses, HLDs, and architectural decision records.
• Present architecture options to executive leadership; articulate value, risk, and trade-offs.
• Delivery Support
• Collaborate with engineering leads on build vs buy, integration with Apache Camel, Kafka, APIs, ESBs.
• Oversee CI/CD, DevSecOps integration, and enforce quality gates (coverage 90%, 0 Critical/High security issues).
• Support performance and resiliency design (HA/DR, observability, SLOs, auto-scaling).
• Thought Leadership & Governance
• Research and benchmark emerging payment technologies, AI/ML applications, and GenAI-assisted SDLC.
• Contribute to whitepapers, blogs, and community forums on wholesale banking modernization.
• Coach and mentor internal teams on architecture practices, payments standards, and modernization patterns.
• Required Skills
• 12+ years in IT; 5+ years as Payments/FinTech Solution Architect.
• Deep domain knowledge: wholesale banking payments (SWIFT, RTGS, ACH, SEPA, Fedwire, FedNow, Correspondent Banking, Treasury).
• Hands-on experience in microservices, API-first design, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Strong knowledge of integration (REST, GraphQL, Apache Camel, MQ/Kafka).
• Experience with DevOps/CI-CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proven track record in project/process management, decision-making, and stakeholder communication.
• Strong documentation and presentation skills (roadmaps, capability maps, HLD/LLD).
• Good-to-Have Skills
• Industry certifications (TOGAF, cloud architecture).
• Payments standards expertise: ISO 20022, CBPR+, SWIFT gpi, UETR.
• Familiarity with AI/ML & GenAI adoption in SDLC and payments analytics.
• Exposure to wealth management, accounting, or lending systems.
• Success Metrics
• Solutions delivered on-time with zero Critical/High security gaps.
• Roadmaps aligned to modernization program and SOW milestones.
• Architecture decisions reduce technical debt and improve STP rates.
• High stakeholder satisfaction (measured via governance/QBRs).
