Product Development Manager

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Product Development Manager to lead product design and development for our Professional Lighting portfolio within the FMEG division. The role will focus on developing high-performance, market-relevant lighting solutions while ensuring strong alignment with brand identity, customer needs, and evolving industry standards.

The ideal candidate will work closely with design, R&D, marketing, sourcing, and manufacturing teams to drive end-to-end product developmentfrom concept to commercialization.

Responsibilities:

• Product Development & Engineering
• Lead the complete product development lifecycle from concept, design, prototyping, validation to mass production
• Develop professional luminaires including architectural, commercial, industrial, outdoor, fade, and landscape lighting
• Define technical specifications related to optics, thermal management, electrical design, housing, finishes, IP/IK ratings
• Drive value engineering, cost optimization, and product standardization
• Ensure alignment of product design with market needs, project requirements, and manufacturing capabilities

Vendor Sourcing & Supplier Management

• Identify, evaluate, onboard, and develop vendors for:
• LED modules and chips
• Drivers and control gear
• Optics (lenses, reflectors, diffusers)
• Aluminum die-casting, extrusion, sheet metal, plastics, glass, and finishes
• Lead commercial negotiations on pricing, tooling, MOQs, lead times, and contracts
• Conduct supplier audits and performance reviews to ensure quality, delivery, and cost targets
• Build long-term strategic partnerships with domestic and international suppliers

Manufacturing & Industrialization

• Ensure products are designed for DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturing & Assembly)
• Coordinate tooling development, pilot production, and production ramp-up
• Resolve manufacturing challenges related to thermal, optical, electrical, and assembly processes
• Work closely with production teams to improve yield, efficiency, and consistency

Quality, Testing & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with BIS, IS, IEC, CE, RoHS, and other applicable standards
• Oversee product testing including photometric, thermal, electrical, IP, IK, and life testing
• Support certification processes and manage documentation
• Drive continuous improvement to reduce failures and warranty issues

Cross-Functional Coordination

• Work closely with sales, projects, marketing, procurement, and quality teams
• Support customization and technical inputs for projects and tenders
• Mentor and guide product development and engineering team members
• Prepare and review BOMs, cost sheets, technical data sheets, and product documentation

Experience :

• 1825 years of experience in Professional Lighting / Luminaire Manufacturing.
• Mandatory exposure to manufacturing, sourcing, and vendor management.

Required Skills:

• Strong expertise in professional lighting product development
• In-depth knowledge of luminaire design, optics, thermal management, drivers, and materials
• Proven experience in vendor sourcing and supplier development
• Strong commercial, negotiation, and cost-management skills
• Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and stakeholder management abilities
