Job Summary:

The Product Compliance Engineer will ensure that product meets international regulatory requirements for hazardous area equipment and machinery safety. This includes managing compliance under IECEx, ATEX Directive (2014/34/EU), and Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC). The role involves certification management of SLB Equipment (Oil and Gas), prepare compliance technical files, standards interpretation, and collaboration with design and manufacturing teams to integrate compliance requirements throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

• Compliance & Certification
• Perform product compliance activities for IECEx, ATEX, and Machinery Directive.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation: Ex Certificates, Declaration of Conformity, Risk Assessments, test plan and reports as per harmonised standards.
• Coordinate with notified bodies and certification agencies for technical reviews, audits and approvals.
• Standards & Regulations
• Interpret and apply IEC 60079 series standards for hazardous area equipment and EN ISO 12100 for machinery safety.
• Ensure conformity with ATEX Directive and Machinery Directive requirements.
• Monitor regulatory changes and communicate impacts to project teams.
• Design & Safety Support
• Review product designs for compliance with explosion protection principles (Ex d, Ex e, Ex i, etc.) and machinery safety requirements.
• Provide guidance on guarding, safety components, and essential health and safety requirements under Machinery Directive.
• Support CE marking and global certification strategy.
• Risk Assessment
• Conduct ignition hazard assessments and machinery risk evaluations.
• Maintain compliance records and ensure traceability.
• Cross-functional Collaboration
• Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to integrate compliance requirements.
• Train internal teams on IECEx, ATEX, and Machinery Directive compliance processes.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelors degree in electrical, Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering.
• Experience: 4 to 8 years in product compliance for hazardous area equipment and machinery.
• Hands-on experience with IECEx, ATEX, and CE marking under Machinery Directive.

• Technical Skills:
• Strong knowledge of CE marking process, IEC 60079 series and EN ISO 12100 standards.
• Knowledge of conformity assessment modules under ATEX and Machinery Directive.
• Understanding of explosion protection techniques and machinery safety principles.
• Familiarity with EMC and electrical safety standards for hazardous environments and machinery safety.

• Soft Skills:
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and interact with certification bodies.

Preferred skills:

• Experience with global hazardous area certifications (INMETRO, CSA, UL).
• Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001) and Ex Quality Assurance Notification (QAN/QAR).

This is an office-based position, with the expectation to come in four days a week.
