As a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer at Optum you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality software applications. You will work primarily on back-end development using Java/J2EE while also having experience with front-end technologies such as JavaScript, Angular, or React. Additionally, you will leverage your cloud technology experience and SQL database expertise to build scalable, efficient, and secure solutions. 

Primary Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software applications
• Work across the full stack with a primary focus on back-end development using Java/J2EE
• Utilize front-end technologies such as JavaScript, Angular.js or React.js as needed for client-side development
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver high-quality features
• Utilize cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform or similar) for application deployment, scaling, and management
• Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability
• Write well-designed, testable code that adheres to industry best practices
• Troubleshoot production issues as part of a rotating on-call schedule
• Perform code reviews to ensure code quality across the team
• Manage SQL databases effectively including writing complex queries, optimizing performance, and ensuring data integrity
• Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
• 4+ years of professional software development experience with a focus on full-stack development
• Experience with front-end technologies such as JavaScript (and/or frameworks like Angular.js or React.js)
• Hands-on experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform or similar) 
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git)
• Proficiency with SQL databases including database design principles and query optimization techniques
• Proven solid proficiency in Java/J2EE for back-end development
• Proven excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think algorithmically.
• Proven solid communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker or Kubernetes
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
