Overview

The Windows & Devices (W+D) organization is driving the next wave of AI innovation across the Windows ecosystem. As part of this mission, we are seeking a Principal PM Lead to lead AI fundamentals efforts that are at the intersection of silicon, AI, and system fundamentals.

You will lead a PM team that ensures our Windows experiences are performant, power efficient, and reliable across diverse silicon and system configurations. The team define and drive efforts to improve fundamentals across Windows, partner with engineering and silicon teams, and build tools and data pipelines that provide deep insights into features, system impacts, and more.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree AND 15+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development 
- OR equivalent experience.

Effective verbal and written communication.
7+ years of experience shipping embedded software or hardware.
Capability to understand and integrate technical concepts across various disciplines.
People management experience.

Some domestic and international travel may be necessary

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience shipping hardware/software through at least 3-5 product cycles.

Experience with AI/ML systems, fundamentals, performance engineering or Strong background and working experience in OEM ecosystem
Experience with system-level performance, power, or silicon fundamentals. 
Motivated and self-driven attitude.  
Responsible for collaboration with partners across organizational boundaries.  
Provide technical leadership and build talent to ensure the overall health of the team by developing and mentoring team members while helping them grow both technically and professionally.

Responsibilities

People leadership: Managing a team of high-caliber PMs, ensuring program planning, development and execution.

Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with engineering, silicon, and platform teams to define fundamentals requirements, prioritize scenarios, and drive execution. 
Data-Driven Insights: Leverage telemetry, performance profiling, and diagnostics to identify gaps, validate improvements, and inform product decisions. 
Tooling and Automation: Partner with engineering to develop scalable fundamentals tools and dashboards that provide visibility into AI model performance, accuracy, and system impact. 
Customer-Centric Design: Ensure fundamentals efforts reflect real-world usage and customer scenarios, with a focus on quality, reliability, and inclusivity. 
Communication and Influence: Clearly articulate fundamentals goals, findings, and trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executives. 
Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of learning and iteration, using data and experimentation to refine fundamentals processes and improve product fundamentals.
