Principal I, Cloud & Middleware Architecture (T)

Summary of Position: 

Join our vibrant team and play a crucial role in shaping Alcon's Digital Cloud Products for ophthalmic medical devices. You'll design, manage, and improve cloud-based solutions, leading the way in automating pipelines, ensuring system resilience, and streamlining development processes. This role combines project management with hands-on technical expertise, making it perfect for someone passionate about cloud technology and its impact on healthcare. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Build and manage cloud-based solutions (AWS + On-prem) for SaMD (Software as a Medical Device) & SaaS applications. 

• Automate pipelines and environments for faster development, integration, deployment, and monitoring. 

• Enhance system resilience and security by proactively identifying and addressing issues. 

• Drive automation across all aspects of solutions and development infrastructure. 

• Contribute to solution architecture, requirements gathering, and process improvement. 

• Share best practices in cloud, DevOps, SRE, and related areas. 

• Design and deploy assets/code in an Agile environment for cutting-edge services. 

• Provide operational support for DevOps-developed services. 

• Collaborate on incident response plans and participate in the full development lifecycle. 

Key Requirements/Minimum Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's degree + 5+ years of relevant experience. 

• Experience with Cloud solutions – at least with AWS 

• Experience with infrastructure configuration, monitoring, automation tools (Terraform, Puppet, Ansible, Chef). 

• Proven experience in designing/developing infrastructure, configuration, and deployment automation at scale. 

• Proficiency in scripting languages (Bash, PowerShell, Python). 

• Hands-on experience with cloud technologies (Kubernetes, serverless). 

• Strong communication and collaboration skills. 

Bonus Points: 

• Understanding of large-scale software-defined network management. 

• Broader IT experience with successful project participation. 

• Familiarity with virtualization, storage, and networking technologies. 

• AWS certification (Solutions Architect/Developer). 

• Software development experience (Python, Ruby, JavaScript, Java, C++, C#).
