Educational Qualifications & Experience
- Postgraduate degree in Arts/Sciences/Social Sciences/Humanities/Commerce with minimum 55% marks; and
- M.Ed. with minimum 55% marks; and
- Ph.D. in Education or in any pedagogic subject offered in the institution; and
- Ten years of teaching experience in a secondary Teacher Education Institution
Desirable:
- Diploma/Degree in Educational Administration/Leadership
- Leadership or administrative experience, such as Head of Department (HoD) roles or educational administration responsibilities.
- Strong research record with publications in reputed journals.
- Experience in accreditation, institutional administration, and curriculum development.
- Familiarity with NEP 2020 and contemporary teacher education reforms.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Principal of the Faculty of Education is the academic and administrative head responsible for providing visionary leadership, ensuring high standards of teacher education, compliance with regulatory bodies, faculty development, student success, and institutional growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Academic Leadership
- Provide strategic leadership in planning, implementing, and evaluating academic programs.
- Ensure curriculum design and delivery align with the regulatory bodies and NEP 2020 guidelines.
- Promote innovative teaching methodologies, research-based practices, and use of educational technology.
- Oversee academic calendars, timetables, examinations, and assessment processes.
2. Administration & Governance
- Manage day-to-day academic and administrative operations of the Faculty of Education.
- Implement institutional policies, rules, and regulations effectively.
- Prepare and monitor budgets, resource allocation, and infrastructure development.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and timely submission of reports to regulatory bodies.
3. Faculty Management & Development
- Recruit, mentor, evaluate, and retain qualified teaching and non-teaching staff.
- Encourage continuous professional development, research, publications, and participation in conferences/seminars.
- Foster a collaborative, ethical, and inclusive academic environment.
4. Research & Innovation
- Promote and supervise educational research, action research, and interdisciplinary studies.
- Facilitate research grants, projects, and collaborations with universities, schools, NGOs, and government agencies.
- Encourage publication in peer-reviewed journals and contribution to policy and practice in education.
5. Student Development & Welfare
- Ensure high standards of teaching practice, internships, and school partnerships.
- Support student mentoring, counseling, career guidance, and placement activities.
- Promote co-curricular and extension activities such as community outreach, inclusive education initiatives, and national programs.
6. Accreditation & Quality Assurance
- Lead accreditation processes (NAAC, IQAC) and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Develop and monitor outcome-based education and internal quality assurance systems.
7. External Relations & Institutional Growth
- Represent the Faculty of Education in academic forums, regulatory meetings, and public platforms.
- Build partnerships with schools, universities, teacher training institutions, and educational bodies.
- Contribute to long-term strategic planning and reputation building of the institution.
