Principal Engineer to Architect Multi-Cloud DBaaS Platform

About the Role

Our Control Plane Platform team builds the foundational systems that enable reliability, scalability, and seamless multi-cloud orchestration. As a Principal Engineer, you'll define the technical direction, mentor world-class engineers, and get hands-on with production systems that span AWS, GCP, and Azure.

This isn't just about writing codeit's about shaping architecture, establishing standards, and solving complex distributed systems challenges that directly impact our customers' most critical workloads.

What You'll Do

Architect & Build: Design and evolve our control plane architecture with a focus on scalability, reliability, and security. Write production-quality Golang code and set the standard for engineering excellence.

Own Multi-Cloud Strategy: Lead the design of multi-tenant control plane services that orchestrate database clusters across cloud providers, including VPC/VNet peering, load balancing, and secure connectivity patterns.

Drive Platform Innovation: Deliver high-impact features like automated provisioning, lifecycle management, and security controls. Research and evaluate cloud-native technologies to keep us at the forefront of innovation.

Lead Through Influence: Mentor engineers across experience levels, conduct thorough code reviews, and establish coding standards and CI/CD best practices that elevate our entire engineering culture.

Ensure Operational Excellence: Define observability standardsmonitoring, logging, tracing, and alertingthat enable our teams to operate with confidence at scale.

Collaborate Globally: Partner with product, SRE, Quality Engineering, and multi-geo engineering teams to align technical decisions with business objectives and deliver cohesive solutions.

Solve Hard Problems: Tackle distributed systems challenges head-on, from performance bottlenecks to networking complexities, and lead root cause analysis for critical production issues.

What We're Looking For

Technical Expertise:

• 12+ years of professional software engineering experience with 5+ years focused on cloud and distributed systems
• Deep expertise in Golang and building cloud-native, distributed architectures
• Strong foundation in system design, high availability, fault tolerance, and performance optimization
• Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, and Azure , including deep networking knowledge (VPCs, routing, load balancers, private connectivity)
• Proven experience with Kubernetes , container orchestration, and multi-cloud deployments
• Track record designing control plane and microservice components for SaaS platforms

Leadership & Impact:

• Prior experience as a Principal or Staff Engineer leading architecture initiatives in DBaaS, cloud infrastructure, or large-scale SaaS environments
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and shape engineering culture
• Balanced approach: strategic thinker who can also roll up sleeves and execute

Education:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
