Role Summary:

Albertsons Companies is seeking a Principal Enterprise Architect Cloud to lead our multi-cloud technology strategy and drive innovation across enterprise platforms. This role will define and evolve architectural principles, patterns, and roadmaps for cloud foundations, with a strong focus on Azure and GCP, while ensuring scalability, resiliency, observability, networking, and security. As an individual contributor, this role also partners with engineering, product, AI and data science teams to design scalable, secure, and cost-efficient architectures that accelerate AI adoption, maturity and innovation.

As a senior technical leader, you will collaborate with enterprise and solution architects, business stakeholders, and engineering teams to deliver transformative cloud solutions. You will also play a key role in cultivating strategic partnerships and influencing senior-level decision-making across the organization.

We are looking for a visionary architect with deep technical knowledge of cloud infrastructure and platforms, who is passionate about solving complex problems with modern technologies and architecture patterns.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide expert-level architecture and design leadership for Albertsons multi-cloud solutions, with emphasis on Azure and GCP, while also guiding adoption of OCI, Retail and Edge platforms.
• Define and evolve enterprise cloud architecture principles, standards, and technology strategies balancing short-term delivery with long-term scalability.
• Develop and maintain multi-cloud roadmaps that align with business priorities and technology trends.
• Lead governance processes to ensure strategic technology choices and compliance with enterprise standards.
• Partner with senior stakeholders to design and deliver innovative solutions that solve business challenges.
• Promote simplification by identifying and reducing overlap in technical and business processes.
• Serve as a technical authority on emerging cloud technologies, leveraging trends to advance enterprise priorities.
• Act as a key decision-maker on architectural principles, technical implementation policies, and cloud adoption strategies.
• Provide direction and guidance to operational support teams for cloud platforms, networking, and infrastructure.
• Collaborate with product and solution architects to interpret business requirements and deliver scalable cloud solutions.
• Engage with the architecture community to share best practices, publish artifacts, and evangelize cloud strategies across Tech & Engineering teams.
• Preferred - Experience in retail technology and industry-specific cloud adoption patterns.
• Preferred - Knowledge of edge computing architectures and distributed systems.
• Preferred - Familiarity with end-user and client computing environments.
• Preferred - Understanding of IT Service Management (ITSM) frameworks and practices.

Required Qualifications:

• 12+ years of experience in architecting and building multi-cloud foundations, with deep expertise in Azure and GCP cloud platforms and infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of cloud networking, integration architecture, observability, resiliency, and security.
• Hands-on experience with modern integration, messaging, and ETL platforms (Kafka, Cloud DataFlow, ADF, etc.).
• Strong grounding in AI security, governance, risk management, privacy, and compliance principles.
• Ability to solve complex technical problems at scale, leveraging deep knowledge of cloud-native services and infrastructure.
• Strategic communicator capable of presenting and aligning architectural vision internally and externally at senior levels.
• Recognized thought leader and brand ambassador with active involvement in external cloud/architecture communities.
• Influential leader with strong interpersonal skills, able to mentor, coach, and guide engineers in a matrixed organization.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical proposals to senior management.
• Self-starter with demonstrated ability to learn beyond formal training and deliver high-quality solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in enterprise-scale Data and AI platforms.
• Experience in architecture data management tools like Planview
• Experience in retail, supply chain, e-commerce, or other large-scale data-driven industries.
• Prior role as Principal Architect, Distinguished Engineer, or equivalent senior technical position.
