Principal Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join the team. This is a senior technical leadership role focused on architecting, validating, and positioning advanced OCI and Multicloud infrastructure solutions for strategic customers.

In addition to leading complex solution design and proof-of-concept engagements, this role will act as the technical escalation authority for strategic customers / opportunities, orchestrating cross-functional engineering collaboration when architectural challenges or high-impact technical blockers arise during pre-sales or active transformation engagements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Architecture Leadership

• Serve as senior technical authority for OCI Core Infrastructure, AI and Multicloud architectures.
• Lead end-to-end solution architecture for large-scale cloud, hybrid, and Multicloud deployments across OCI, AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Architect disaster recovery, cross-region resiliency, and workload migration strategies.
• Lead virtual, cross-functional teams of subject matter experts from OCI Support, Development, Engineering, Operations, and Product Management to investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex technical problems.

2. Customer Advocacy

• Deliver clear, concise, and timely updates to customers and internal stakeholders, including executive leadership. Manage expectations and build confidence throughout the resolution process.
• Lead customer discovery workshops, architecture deep dives, and executive-level technical discussions.
• Manage the lifecycle of escalated customer incidents from initiation to resolution, serving as the primary point of contact for all stakeholders.
• Act as the voice of the customer, ensuring their needs are prioritized and that their feedback contributes to product and process improvements.

3. Strategic Technical Escalation & Orchestration

• Act as the senior technical lead for complex architectural & technical challenges encountered during strategic engagements.
• Coordinate cross-functional collaboration across Engineering, Product Management, Networking, Security, and AI Infrastructure teams to resolve blockers faced by these customers.
• Facilitate technical deep dives and structured root cause analysis when architectural gaps or technical issues are identified.

4. Mentorship:

• Provide informal coaching and guidance to less experienced team members on handling escalated cases and improving overall service quality.

Experience & Qualifications

• 812 total years of experience in cloud infrastructure, solution architecture, site reliability or engineering role for a large-scale cloud platform.
• 2+ years of experience as a technical account manager, customer success role.
• Extensive experience managing and supporting production-grade environments.

Preferred Certification:

• OCI Architect certification.

Skills Required

• Demonstrated ability to manage complex technical projects and lead cross-functional teams under pressure.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and de-escalation skills, with the ability to articulate technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure components, including compute, storage, networking and security.

Cloud Platforms

• Deep expertise in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
• Strong working knowledge of AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
• Experience in hybrid and Multicloud design.

Networking & Or Storage

• Strong foundation in TCP/IP, BGP, MPLS, DNS, VPN, hybrid connectivity.
• Infrastructure & Network monitoring
• Strong experience designing large cloud networks, including hub-and-spoke architectures and hybrid connectivity between on-premises and cloud environments.
• Deep experience designing block, object, and file storage architectures for enterprise-scale workloads.
• Expertise in performance tuning, IOPS modelling, and storage optimization for AI, analytics, and high-performance workloads.
• Strong understanding of cross-region replication, disaster recovery strategies, and data lifecycle governance.

Automation

• Terraform, Ansible, Python, Shell scripting.
