About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Architect who will play a critical role in designing, developing, and implementing modern API management and DevOps solutions at Wells Fargo. This individual will be a technical leader, driving the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and best practices to enhance our API ecosystem and streamline our software delivery lifecycle. This role requires deep expertise in Apigee, API Gateway, service mesh technologies like Istio and Gloo Mesh, and a strong understanding of CI/CD principles and DevSecOps practices.
In this role, you will:
- Act as an advisor to senior leadership to develop the architectural framework & delivery for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups
- Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking
- Provide vision, direction and expertise to senior leadership on implementing the transformation strategy describing the current state, target state and transition architecture
- Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an architectural domain expert advisor to leadership
- Ensure applications adhere to established Wells Fargo standards, policies, methodologies and industry best practices as it transforms toward target state architecture
- Drive the definition, establishment, selection of strategic tools, and application of architecture frameworks
- Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization and can influence internal and vendor roadmaps in a significant capacity
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of architecture experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in CI/CD tools like Github, JFrog Artifactory and Harness.
- 5+ years of experience with API management platforms, with a strong focus on Apigee.
- 3+ years of experience with service mesh technologies like Istio and Gloo Mesh. Experience with Solo.io Gloo Mesh is highly preferred.
- Deep understanding of API design principles and best practices (REST, SOAP, GraphQL).
- Strong understanding of DevSecOps principles and practices.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Certifications in relevant technologies (Apigee, Kubernetes, etc.).
- Financial services industry experience.
Job Expectations:
- Architect, design, and implement API management solutions using Apigee, focusing on performance, scalability, security, and maintainability.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance on API Gateway and service mesh technologies like Istio and Solo.io Gloo Mesh.
- Design and implement robust CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub, JFrog Artifactory, and Harness.
- Champion DevSecOps practices, integrating security throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate API management solutions into their applications.
- Mentor and coach junior team members on API management and DevOps best practices.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in API management, service mesh, and DevOps.
- Provide technical expertise and support for troubleshooting and resolving production issues.
- Contribute to the development and evolution of Wells Fargo's API strategy and roadmap.
- Work with DataPower for existing integrations and migrations.
