Role Overview

We are looking for a highly experienced Principal Architect / Scalability Lead to design and scale cloud-native products from MVP to full enterprise deployment. This role requires a hands-on technical leader who can architect resilient, high-performance distributed systems while ensuring exceptional end-user experience and business scalability.

You will play a strategic role in defining architecture standards, scalability roadmaps, and engineering best practices while collaborating closely with Product, Business, and Engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Scalability Leadership

• Architect scalable, resilient, and high-performance cloud-native systems.
• Design distributed systems capable of supporting 100K+ users with strong availability and reliability metrics.
• Lead architecture from MVP stage to enterprise-grade deployment.
• Translate business and consumer requirements into robust technical blueprints.
• Drive scalability planning, performance engineering, and system optimization.

End-to-End Ownership

• Own complete SDLC visibility from discovery and requirement analysis to release, monitoring, and optimization.
• Establish best practices for:
• Microservices architecture
• Distributed systems design
• Observability & monitoring
• DevSecOps implementation
• Ensure high system uptime, performance, and cost efficiency.

Cloud & Infrastructure

• Design and implement scalable systems on AWS / Azure / GCP.
• Lead containerization strategy using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Architect secure, reliable, and automated CI/CD pipelines.
• Drive infrastructure optimization and cloud cost management.

Performance & Reliability Engineering

• Define SLAs, SLOs, and reliability metrics.
• Implement monitoring and observability frameworks.
• Lead performance testing and scalability validation.
• Establish reliability and fault-tolerance standards.

Consumer Obsession & Product Thinking

• Build with a consumer-first mindset.
• Ensure architectural decisions enhance usability, performance, and reliability.
• Translate customer pain points into scalable technical solutions.
• Foster accountability for customer outcomes, not just feature delivery.
• Prioritize responsiveness and user experience at scale.

Leadership & Governance

• Mentor and guide engineering teams on architecture best practices.
• Lead architecture governance and technical decision-making forums.
• Influence senior stakeholders with data-driven architectural recommendations.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration across Product, Engineering, and Business teams.

Required Qualifications

• 815 years of experience in software engineering.
• Proven experience designing and scaling distributed systems beyond 100K users.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Expertise in Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration.
• Experience building enterprise-grade systems for large-scale or Fortune 500 organizations.
• Strong knowledge of performance engineering, reliability frameworks, and monitoring tools.
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing cross-functional technical initiatives.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with event-driven architectures.
• Knowledge of caching strategies and database scalability.
• Exposure to DevSecOps practices.
• Strong stakeholder communication and strategic thinking skills.
