We are looking for an experienced Principal Software Engineer to build and optimize a high-performance Data Platform that powers associate experience, analytics, and bulk data integrations. This platform will source data from multiple business databases and core data assets in batch and real-time while ensuring data quality, governance, lineage, and discovery.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our data architecture. You’ll have the opportunity to build reusable and scalable solutions for data ingestion, ensuring seamless and efficient flow of data across systems. You will take the lead in developing cutting-edge frameworks to manage complex data pipelines, focusing on high performance, reliability, and flexibility. Additionally, you will lead efforts to implement robust data security measures, including encryption, access control, and other essential protocols to safeguard sensitive data. Your expertise will ensure that our platform meets the highest standards for both performance and security, empowering the business with secure, reliable, and actionable insights.
What you'll do:
We are looking for a seasoned engineer who can drive the development of the platform working with a group of high energy engineers, other architects, TPMs etc and report to leadership team. This role requires to be technically strong and be able to drive the development in a fast-paced environment. The candidate is expected to work with global teams, provide thought leadership, understand the business context and help provide right solutions, work with product and program managers to plan the releases, participate in sprint planning and handle deployments to production.
Provide technical leadership to the team, guiding them in architectural decisions and best practices.
Develop a strategic technical vision for the team and help influence the People Data Platform roadmap.
Lead and drive the revamp of the platform for Data Ingestion, Security, and Policy.
Enable the development of scalable solutions for data-intensive batch and streaming applications using Apache Spark, GCP BigQuery, and Apache Kafka.
Design and build our Data Security & Data Access Policy framework to enable seamless programmatic access and robust data encryption.
Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
Conduct regular code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards.
Collaborate with senior leadership to define the future roadmap of the platform.
Work with engineering teams to create high-level and low-level designs, drive design discussions, and make technical decisions.
What you'll bring:
B.Tech./B.E./M.Tech./M.S. in Computer Science or a relevant discipline with a minimum of 12+ years of experience in software design, development, and automated deployments.
Proven experience in designing and developing highly scalable services and platforms.
Strong coding skills in Java, Scala, or Python.
Experience in writing extensible and testable software.
Proficiency in design patterns, Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), and/or Functional Programming.
Expertise in designing robust, large-scale backend systems with a focus on performance, scalability, security, and maintainability.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and within a team.
Strong knowledge of messaging systems like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
Experience with Cloud Technologies, preferably GCP, or similar platforms.
Hands-on experience with big data and distributed systems like Spark, Flink, etc.
Experience in building knowledge graph frameworks using Neo4j, GraphQL, or similar technologies.
Working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL database technologies.
Exposure to Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and CI/CD development environments/tools (e.g., Git, Maven, Jenkins).
Familiarity with logging and monitoring tools like ELK, Splunk, Grafana.
Strong desire to drive change and the ability to adapt quickly.
Hands-on development experience to prototype technical solutions.
