About the Role

The Primary Years Home Room Teacher will play a central role in shaping meaningful learning experiences for children in the primary years. You will design and lead concept-driven, inquiry-rich learning while building an inclusive classroom culture.

The role is appropriate for an educator who combines inquiry-based pedagogical practice with deep learning, reflective practice, and strong relationships with children and families.

Learning and Classroom Practice

You will:

• Design and deliver engaging learning experiences that build strong foundations in literacy and numeracy while making meaningful connections across subject areas.
• Plan learning around big ideas and guiding questions, encouraging curiosity, exploration, and conceptual understanding.
• Differentiate learning thoughtfully to support a range of abilities, interests, and learning needs.
• Foster learner agency by helping students set goals, make choices, reflect on progress, and take responsibility for their learning.

Student Wellbeing

You will:

• Create a safe and stimulating classroom environment that reflects the ongoing units of inquiry and celebrates student work.
• Support students social and emotional development through consistent routines, positive guidance, and strong relationships.
• Work in partnership with families, recognising parents and caregivers as essential partners in each childs learning journey.
• Contribute to a school culture where wellbeing, belonging, and happiness are taken seriously for both students and staff.

Assessment and Learning Progress

You will:

• Use a range of formative and summative assessment strategies to inform teaching practices and learning progress.
• Provide timely, specific feedback that helps students reflect on their strengths and next steps.
• Maintain clear and accurate records of learning using the schools reporting systems.
• Facilitate student-led conferences and provide regular, meaningful feedback to parents regarding their childs academic and social progress.

Collaboration and Professional Learning

You will:

• Work collaboratively with colleagues to plan, reflect on, and refine learning experiences.
• Partner with specialist teachers and learning support colleagues to ensure inclusive and coherent provision.
• Engage actively in professional learning, reflection, and dialogue as part of a growing professional community.
• Contribute actively to the wider life of the school, including events, initiatives, and community engagement.

Qualifications & Experience

Strongly Preferred

• Bachelors or Post-Graduate degree in Education or a relevant subject, with a recognised teaching qualification (B.Ed. / PGCE / equivalent)
• Minimum 12 years of teaching experience in the primary years in an authorised IB school or international school setting
• Strong understanding of inquiry-led, concept-driven teaching and formative assessment practices.
• Fluent in English with excellent communication, collaboration, and organisational skills.

Desirable

• Completion of IB Category 1 or 2 workshop.
• Experience in an emerging or growing school environment.
• Experience in collaborating closely with learning support or specialist teachers to support diverse learners.
