Job Description

About the Role:

The Pre-Sales Engineer primary role is to translate the needs of our clients into an STS quote and support its presentation to the client. During their main assignments, they will receive information about a sales opportunity (which can be in an email form, or an RFP, or a meeting minute, or any other type of channel), clarify scoping doubts, and deliver several items that are then used by the Sales Team and/or the rest of the Advisory Team to win deals, including STS Pro quotes, presentations, track record, references, etc. Key responsibilities include analyzing customer requirements and requesting clarifications, scoping customized solutions, coordinating with internal teams (like service lines, sales back-office, sales front office, advisory), preparing supporting material and if necessary, presenting the technical part of the quote, and ensuring that proposed solutions align with customer needs and company capabilities. They also play a key role in proposing additional scope recommendation and influencing purchase decisions through technical expertise and effective communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and design a scope of services based on client specifications, ensuring they meet both operational needs, industrys best practices and regulatory standards.
  • Assist the sales team during proposal preparation and negotiation in clarifying clients technical requirements and preparing technical and commercial documentation necessary to present the technical scope to the client.
  • Elaborate on technical aspects and benefits of STSs technical proposal, equipping clients with the knowledge necessary to make informed decisions and maximize the value of their investments.
  • Work closely with the sales and operational teams to ensure that proposed solutions are aligned with client expectations and internal capabilities.
  • Work closely with the sales team to design and propose technical solutions that align with client needs.
  • Create detailed technical proposals and documentation for technical proposals and client presentations.
  • Perform post-mortem analysis.

Technical Feasibility Studies

  • Feasibility Assessments: Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine the technical, operational, and financial feasibility of proposed solutions.
  • Resource Evaluation: Proactively evaluate the personnel, equipment, and materials required for the successful execution of the project, ensuring that the necessary resources are available.
  • Risk Analysis: Identify potential risks associated with proposed solutions, reach out to relevant stakeholders ( client technical counterpart, advisors, service lines) and recommend mitigation strategies or alternative scoping to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Cost and Resource Estimation: Provide detailed cost estimatesand resource estimation for the proposed solutions, ensuring transparency and cost-effectiveness for both the client and the company.

Client Engagement & Support

  • Technical Presentations: Prepare and present technical solutions to clients, explaining design choices and addressing any technical concerns they may have.
  • Pre-Sales Support: Work closely with the sales team to provide technical expertise, material and suggestions, during the sales process from the beginning to deal closing, helping to close deals and ensure that client requirements are met above expectations.
  • Solution Adjustments: Make adjustments to proposed solutions based on client feedback, advisory recommendation, or changing project requirements, ensuring flexibility, matching scope and customer satisfaction.

Industry Standards & Best Practices

  • Research & Innovation: Stay up to date with industry trends, standards, and emerging technologies to ensure that solutions are cutting-edge and competitive. Communicate actively with the Solutions Innovation team on information collected.
  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities to improve the design and delivery of procurement solutions, ensuring the highest levels of efficiency and innovation.

JOB SPECIFICATION

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a technical sales engineer, technical bid engineer preparing techno commercial proposals focused on quality assurance, technical advisory and technical services for renewable equipment, or procurement engineer in engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) or development companies specialized in renewables.
  • Ideally 5 years of experience as a pre-sales engineer, bid manager or similar drafting techno-commercial proposals to clients in the renewables industry procuring quality assurance services.

Specialization

  • Solid understanding of operational, technical and commercial aspects of quality assurance and technical advisory services (audits, inspections, Market Intelligence, consulting, lab testing), Good Knowledge of PV modules and BESS products in terms of manufacturing, quality, technology and testing methodologies.
  • Expertise in creation of technical-commercial customized solution (e.g. scoping, pricing, cost & resource estimation, risk evaluation)

Technical & Communication Skills

  • Expertise at drafting and presenting techno-commercial proposals for quality assurance, inspections, audits and conformity assessment services, and compiling all relevant documentation and information.
  • Experience in collecting, analyzing and summarizing key information required for the evaluation of the proposals feasibility, and proactively clarifying possible doubts proactively.
  • Experience at presenting techno-commercial proposals to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to present techno-commercial information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent client-facing communication skills, including the ability to negotiate and influence decision-making.
  • Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work across teams and engage with various stakeholders.

Technology Skills

  • Strong computer skills, and competent use of MS Windows.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experienced user of collaboration platforms and tools, such as Microsoft Teams.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems or other software
