Job Description

The Homeroom Teacher is responsible for overseeing the academic progress, behavior, attendance, and overall well-being of students assigned to a specific class. The HRT acts as the primary point of contact between students, parents, and the school administration.


Key Responsibilities

1. Student Academic Monitoring

  • Monitor students academic performance across all subjects.
  • Track progress and identify students needing support.
  • Coordinate with subject teachers regarding student performance.
  • Guide students in goal setting and academic improvement.

2. Student Welfare & Pastoral Care

  • Support students emotional and social development.
  • Address behavioral concerns and provide guidance.
  • Promote positive values and discipline.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive classroom environment.

3. Attendance & Record Keeping

  • Maintain accurate attendance records.
  • Monitor punctuality and follow up on absences.
  • Keep updated student records (academic and behavioral).

4. Parent Communication

  • Act as the primary contact for parents/guardians.
  • Conduct parent-teacher meetings (PTMs).
  • Provide regular updates on student progress and behavior.
  • Address parent concerns in coordination with school leadership.

5. Administrative Duties

  • Prepare student reports and documentation.
  • Organize class meetings and activities.
  • Support school events, assemblies, and programs.
  • Ensure classroom notices and communications are shared properly.

6. Student Leadership & Engagement

  • Encourage participation in extracurricular activities.
  • Organize class activities, field trips, and projects.
  • Promote teamwork, responsibility, and leadership skills.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Education or relevant subject area.
  • Teaching certification as per school.
