Policy Associate

The Digital India Foundation (DIF) is a not-for-profit think-tank aiming to foster digital inclusion and adoption, and the use of the Internet and related technologies for the developmental process.

The primary aspects of the role and its responsibilities are as follows:

• Researching, analysing and tracking policy, regulations, and issues related to the Digital India Foundation's programs and mission to conduct research and analysis to assist in carrying out both policy staff and self-initiated projects;
• Identifying, developing, and nurturing relationships with partners, ally organisations, policymakers, funders, and program alumni; participating in and building coalitions with a partner or potential partner organisations as needed;
• Developing and distributing legislative and/or regulatory briefings, public comments, fact sheets, support letters, and other tools to educate policymakers and the public on issues relevant to the Digital India Foundation's mission;
• Assisting DIF policy staff in the development and implementation of major new policy initiatives and planning and coordinating policy-related workshops and meetings;
• Preparing drafts and contributing to reports, white papers, letters, comments, testimony, graphics and other DIF documents and outcome reports;
• Other policy-and advocacy-related tasks as identified.

Qualifications:

• Education: A graduate in related fields. An understanding of economics, political sciences, international relations, statistics or evaluation is preferred, such that findings are translated into general policy conclusions in a way that is both simple to follow but also accurate and undistorted.
• Experience: Final-year/Recent undergraduates/Postgraduates may apply. Relevant work experience is preferred.
• Communication: Detail-oriented, advanced writing skills and comfortable with public speaking. Understanding how to communicate policy lessons from technical academic research to make concise, compelling, clear output to relevant stakeholders in the policy community.
