Plumbing and Firefighting Design Engineer

We are looking for a Plumbing and Firefighting Design Engineer to design, review, and coordinate plumbing, drainage, water supply, sewage, storm water, and firefighting systems for residential, commercial, hospitality, industrial, or mixed-use projects. The role involves preparing system designs, calculations, drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, client requirements, and project timelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Design plumbing systems including:
• Domestic water supply
• Hot and cold water systems
• Soil, waste, and vent systems
• Sewage and drainage systems
• Storm water drainage and rainwater harvesting systems
• Water storage and pumping systems
• Design firefighting systems including:
• Hydrant systems
• Sprinkler systems
• Hose reel systems
• Fire water tanks and pump rooms
• Landing valves and wet risers/downcomers
• Clean agent / special suppression systems, where applicable
• Prepare design calculations for water demand, pipe sizing, pump head calculations, tank sizing, pressure requirements, and hydraulic calculations for firefighting systems.
• Develop concept, schematic, detailed design, and tender-stage drawings.
• Prepare BOQs, technical specifications, material schedules, and tender documentation.
• Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, HVAC, electrical, and other consultants to avoid design clashes and ensure smooth project execution.
• Review shop drawings, material submittals, and vendor proposals for compliance with design intent and standards.
• Support site teams during construction with technical clarifications, design revisions, and troubleshooting.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant local and international codes, authority regulations, and safety standards.
• Participate in design review meetings with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
• Assist in value engineering, optimization of systems, and cost-effective design solutions.
• Maintain proper documentation, revision control, and project records.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Mechanical / Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• 38 years of relevant experience in plumbing and firefighting design for building projects.

• Strong knowledge of plumbing and firefighting design principles, standards, and practices.
• Experience in designing systems for residential, commercial, high-rise, industrial, or institutional buildings.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Working knowledge of Revit MEP and BIM coordination.
• Familiarity with hydraulic calculation software for firefighting systems.
• Good understanding of applicable codes such as NBC, NFPA, UPC, IPC, and local fire authority / building regulations.
• Ability to prepare calculations, layouts, schematics, and coordinated drawings.
• Strong coordination and interdisciplinary communication skills.
• Good understanding of site execution requirements and practical installation constraints.
• Attention to detail and ability to work within project deadlines.
