Job Description: Technical Lead Platform Engineering

About the Role

Platform Engineering is a strategic function focused on building frictionless, secure, scalable, and automated enterprise cloud platforms. As the Technical Lead Platform Engineering , you will design, build, and enable platform services that power subscription/resource provisioning, networking, security, observability, enterprise integrations, data platforms, and AI/ML environments. You will ensure all platform components are reusable, automated, and developer-friendly.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Architecture & Engineering

  • Lead the design and implementation of cloud platform self-service and developer-enablement components.
  • Support architects in evolving platform architecture including orchestration layers, landing zones, and service fabric models.
  • Own the technical roadmap for Platform Engineering MVPs and scale-up phases.
  • Drive Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), GitOps, and policy-as-code adoption across teams.
  • Enable developer self-service capabilities using Cortex, APIs, and curated templates.

Platform Integration & Enablement

  • Collaborate with AIS, Data & AI teams to ensure platform capabilities support integration pipelines, observability, and security.
  • Support onboarding and integration of shared services such as APIM, WAF, Kafka, OTEL, and ML model hosting platforms.
  • Work with engineering, security, and operations teams to define platform requirements and best practices.

Observability, Security & Compliance

  • Implement and maintain observability stacksmonitoring (Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana), logging (ELK), alerting frameworks.
  • Embed industry-standard security practices (SOC 2, GDPR) into platform components.
  • Drive identity management and security automation (Azure EntraID, AWS IAM, vulnerability scanning).
  • Enable shift-left InfoSec and ensure alignment with required control frameworks.

DevOps, Automation & Reliability

  • Mentor SREs across multi-cloud environments (Azure/AWS).
  • Drive automation in CI/CD pipelines, change management, incident response, and compliance reporting.
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues and lead root-cause analysis.
  • Participate in build-vs-buy decisions and lead PoC/PoT initiatives with vendors.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Azure and/or AWS platforms.
  • Strong expertise in Kubernetes , Helm, Terraform, Pulumi, Ansible.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
  • Hands-on exposure to Backstage , Cortex, Operator SDK, GitOps tools (ArgoCD/Flux).
  • Good understanding of observability tools: Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace, OTEL.
  • Proficiency in programming/scripting: Golang , Python , and Bash.
  • Experience working with AI/ML platforms (Azure ML, SageMaker, MLflow, Kubeflow).
  • Solid background in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, platform automation, and SRE practices.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable platform capabilities.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with FinOps, cost optimization, and sustainability dashboards.
  • Ability to lead through influence and drive change across complex environments.

Preferred Certifications

  • Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) or AWS Solutions Architect Professional
  • CKA/CKAD (Kubernetes Administrator/Developer)
  • HashiCorp Certified Terraform Associate
  • CISSP (optional but good to have)
