Job Description
Role Overview: We are looking for an experienced Piping Material Engineer with a strong background in piping material selection, specifications, procurement engineering, and vendor coordination for large-scale EPC/EPCM projects. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in international design codes, piping material engineering deliverables, and cross-functional technical coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Piping Material Engineering & Specifications;
- Preparation and maintenance of Piping Material Specifications (PMS) & Valve Material Specifications (VMS).
- Develop and review piping specifications, line class design, and related engineering documents.
- Ensure material selection aligns with service conditions, corrosion considerations, and design requirements.
- Ensure full compliance with ASME, ASTM, API, MSS, NACE and relevant international codes and standards.
Procurement Engineering;
- Prepare Material Requisitions (MRs) for piping, fittings, gaskets, valves, and special items.
- Perform and finalize Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE).
- Participate in bid clarification meetings and vendor selection discussions.
- Review and approve vendor drawings/documents, ensuring adherence to project specs and technical requirements.
Project Engineering & Coordination
- Support basic, FEED, and detailed engineering phases.
- Coordinate with process, mechanical, structural, and procurement teams.
- Handle Tender preparation including technical documentation, scope preparation, and specifications.
- Respond to technical queries (TQs), deviations, and resolve piping-material-related issues.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of all piping material engineering deliverables.
- Support QA/QC requirements and ensure compliance with client and project standards.
- Assist construction and commissioning teams on material issues and resolution.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of ASME piping codes including ASME B31.3, B31.1, B16 series, and other applicable standards.
- Expert-level understanding of piping materials, metallurgy, valves, corrosion, and specialty items.
- Experience with engineering tools and databases (SmartPlant, PDS, PDMS preferred but not mandatory).
- Strong communication, technical writing, and coordination skills.
- Ability to guide and mentor junior engineers.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, with minimum 12 years of experience in related field, masters degree preferred (optional).
Preferred Industry Background
- Oil & Gas, Refinery, Petrochemical, Chemical, EPC / EPCM projects
