October Creatives is hiring.

This is a paid assistant role. But to be clear - this is not a quick-money gig. It is not a shortcut. It is not for someone looking to freelance their way into easy invoices.

This is an apprenticeship.

At October Creatives, we work on a limited number of budget-agnostic projects at a time so we can immerse ourselves fully in the story, the light, and the lived experience of the spaces we photograph. Our work spans hospitality, interiors, architecture, and corporate portraiture.

The practice is led by Sudhir Damerla, whose approach is rooted in lighting-led artistic photography and long-form thinking about craft.

We are looking for a Photography Assistant who wants to build a serious career in photography someone excited by mentorship, open critique, and the slow discipline of mastering light.

There will be physically demanding shoot days carrying equipment and working long hours. There will also be quiet days of conceptual learning, editing, reviewing, and understanding the business side of photography.

This role is ideal for someone who:

Has working knowledge of lighting, retouching, and image editing

Is familiar with Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, and/or Capture One

Is hyper-organised and detail-oriented

Communicates clearly and respectfully

Can work under pressure and in imperfect weather or site conditions

Takes pride in precision and strives for excellence

Is collaborative, grounded, and ego-free

Most importantly, this role is for someone who wants to learn deeply not just execute tasks.

Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and cultural fit. You won't be short changed, but you cannot expect unrealistic financial growth. The long-term value of this position lies in direct mentorship and hands-on exposure to real projects.
