This not only enhances operational efficiency but also reduces waste, leading to better outcomes for both businesses and the planet. Global leaders like Google, PepsiCo, Walmart, T-Mobile, AB InBev, and Starbucks trust o9 to optimize their supply chains.

People Insights Specialist III

Role Summary

The People Insights Specialist III is a consultative, execution-focused role responsible for diagnosing workforce challenges, translating business needs into analytical approaches, and delivering actionable people insights. This role partners closely with HR Business Partners (HRBPs), HR Centers of Excellence (COEs), and business leaders—acting as a thought partner while maintaining hands-on ownership of analysis, reporting, and insight delivery.

This individual is expected to scope problems, execute analyses end-to-end, and influence decision-making through clear, data-driven storytelling.

Key Responsibilities

Consultative Partnership & Problem Diagnosis

  • Partner with HRBPs and business leaders to understand business challenges, workforce risks, and strategic priorities.

  • Translate ambiguous business questions into clear analytical problem statements and insight requests.

  • Act as an internal consultant by framing options, trade-offs, and implications based on data—while owning execution.

Hands-On Analytics & Execution

  • Design, execute, and deliver people analytics projects across the employee lifecycle (e.g., engagement, performance, attrition, hiring, promotion, compensation, learning).

  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses using multiple data sources (e.g., Workday, engagement surveys, HRBP inputs).

  • Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and analysis outputs with a focus on accuracy, consistency, and usability.

Insight Delivery & Storytelling

  • Translate complex analyses into clear, compelling narratives that drive understanding and action.

  • Develop executive-ready materials that clearly articulate insights, risks, and recommended actions (“so what / now what”).

  • Present findings to HRBPs, senior leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders with confidence and clarity.

Business Impact & Follow-Through

  • Partner with HRBPs to ensure insights lead to action, not just reporting.

  • Define success metrics and track outcomes tied to people initiatives and interventions.

  • Support post-initiative reviews to evaluate impact and inform continuous improvement.

Data Quality, Governance & Maturity

  • Apply strong judgment around data privacy, confidentiality, and ethical use of people data.

  • Identify opportunities to improve data quality, definitions, and reporting consistency.

  • Contribute to raising the overall maturity of people insights by improving methods, standards, and stakeholder understanding.

Required Skills & Capabilities

Consulting & Business Acumen

  • Strong ability to diagnose problems, ask the right questions, and structure analyses.

  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and influencing through insight rather than authority.

  • Ability to balance advisory partnership with personal accountability for execution.

Analytical & Technical Skills

  • Advanced analytical skills with experience working across large or complex datasets.

  • Proficiency in Excel and experience with visualization or reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Workday reporting).

  • Ability to connect people data to business outcomes and strategic decisions.

Communication & Storytelling

  • Exceptional ability to translate data into clear, actionable insights.

  • Strong executive communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to tailor messaging to different audiences (HR, leaders, executives).

Experience & Qualifications

  • Typically 5–8 years of experience in people analytics, workforce analytics, HR analytics, or a related analytical or consulting role.

  • Demonstrated experience partnering directly with HRBPs and business leaders.

  • Experience in a global, fast-paced, or SaaS environment strongly preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; relevant advanced education a plus.
