Job Description
Job Summary
We are looking for a highly skilled PCB Designer with strong expertise in Altium Designer to design advanced, high-reliability PCBs for Drone / UAV systems. The role involves developing compact, lightweight, high-performance multi-layer boards used in flight controllers, power distribution systems, communication modules, payload systems, and embedded avionics.
The ideal candidate understands the unique challenges of UAV electronics vibration resistance, EMI control, power integrity, thermal management, and size/weight optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Design high-density, multi-layer PCBs (412 layers) for drone and UAV applications
- Develop PCB layouts for:
- Flight controllers
- ESC interfaces
- GPS & telemetry modules
- RF communication systems
- Power distribution boards (PDB)
- Sensor integration (IMU, barometer, LiDAR, etc.)
- Perform high-speed routing (USB, CAN, SPI, UART, Ethernet if applicable)
- Design controlled impedance traces and optimize stack-ups
- Implement EMI/EMC best practices for RF and high-current environments
- Optimize layout for vibration resistance and weight reduction
- Generate complete fabrication outputs (Gerber, ODB++, pick & place, assembly drawings)
- Work closely with embedded, firmware, and mechanical teams
- Coordinate with PCB manufacturers for DFM/DFA and aerospace-grade reliability
- Support prototype bring-up, debugging, and validation testing
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Electronics / Electrical Engineering
- 3+ years of PCB design experience (UAV/embedded systems preferred)
- Strong hands-on expertise in Altium Designer
- Experience designing multi-layer boards (minimum 4 layers)
- Strong understanding of:
- Signal Integrity & Power Integrity
- High-current PCB design
- Grounding and shielding techniques
- Thermal management
- Knowledge of IPC standards and PCB fabrication processes
Technical Expertise Required
- Advanced Altium Designer skills (schematic capture, layout, libraries)
- High-speed digital layout (USB, CAN, SPI, I2C, etc.)
- Mixed-signal board design
- RF layout basics (antenna routing, impedance control)
- Experience with HDI, blind/buried vias (preferred)
- Familiarity with compliance standards (CE, FCC, RoHS)
- Understanding of vibration and environmental constraints in UAV systems
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience in Drone / UAV / Robotics / Aerospace electronics
- Experience with STM32, ARM-based controllers, or embedded SoCs
- Knowledge of battery management systems (BMS) and LiPo power systems
- Exposure to drone communication protocols (MAVLink, telemetry systems)
- Experience supporting field testing and flight validation
