Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Process weekly, biweekly, or monthly payroll for employees accurately and on schedule
  • Review and verify timekeeping records for accuracy and completeness
  • Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and deductions (taxes, benefits, garnishments, etc.)
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
  • Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and reports
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records in payroll systems
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, tax forms, and deductions
  • Coordinate with HR regarding new hires, terminations, promotions, and salary adjustments
  • Assist with year-end processes including W-2 and other tax documentation
  • Support audits related to payroll and compliance

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2+ years of payroll processing experience
  • Strong knowledge of payroll regulations and tax laws
  • Experience with payroll software and HRIS systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation
  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing
  • Knowledge of labor laws and compliance regulations
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment
