Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Process weekly, biweekly, or monthly payroll for employees accurately and on schedule
- Review and verify timekeeping records for accuracy and completeness
- Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and deductions (taxes, benefits, garnishments, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
- Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and reports
- Maintain and update employee payroll records in payroll systems
- Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, tax forms, and deductions
- Coordinate with HR regarding new hires, terminations, promotions, and salary adjustments
- Assist with year-end processes including W-2 and other tax documentation
- Support audits related to payroll and compliance
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2+ years of payroll processing experience
- Strong knowledge of payroll regulations and tax laws
- Experience with payroll software and HRIS systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation
- Experience with multi-state payroll processing
- Knowledge of labor laws and compliance regulations
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment
