Job Summary
The Payroll Operations Specialist at Workspend serves as the primary point of contact (POC) for employees and contractors from the offer stage through the entirety of their engagement with the company. This role focuses on employee experience, payroll-related support, and operational coordination, acting as a trusted liaison between employees, the Managed Service Provider (MSP), and the onboarding team. While the role requires strong payroll knowledge, it does not involve managing or processing payroll transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employees and contractors throughout their lifecycle, from offer presentation through offboarding
- Present and explain employment offers, including pay-related details, benefits, and employment terms
- Respond to employee and contractor inquiries related to payroll, compensation, timekeeping, and employment concerns
- Act as a liaison between the MSP, onboarding team, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth onboarding and ongoing support
- Provide guidance and counseling to contractors regarding employment-related questions and concerns
- Support employee relations by addressing issues professionally, confidentially, and in alignment with company policies
- Ensure accurate communication and documentation related to payroll-adjacent processes and employee records
- Escalate payroll processing issues to the appropriate payroll team or vendor when necessary
- Contribute to continuous improvement of payroll operations and employee experience processes
Qualifications
- 35 years of experience in payroll operations, HR operations, or employee lifecycle support.
- Strong understanding of payroll concepts, employment terms, and contractor engagement models.
- Experience serving as a primary point of contact for employees or contractors throughout the employment lifecycle.
- Proven ability to support employee relations, address concerns, and provide guidance in a professional and confidential manner
- Experience working with MSPs, onboarding teams, or third-party vendors preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong customer-service mindset
- High attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive and confidential information
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to work in USA Eastern Timing (EST).
