Job Description

We are seeking a creative and detail-orientedPastry Chefto lead and execute our in-house pastry program at our matcha specialty caf. This role focuses on developing high-quality pastries and desserts that complement and highlight premium matcha beverages. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in classic pastry techniques, a passion for Japanese-inspired flavours, and experience in an experimental caf environment.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a seasonal pastry menu featuring matcha-forward and complementary flavours
  • Create signature desserts such as matcha tiramisu, matcha mille crpe, chiffon cakes, cookies, laminated pastries, and specialty sweets
  • Ensure consistency in quality, taste, texture, and presentation
  • Oversee daily production, prep schedules, and inventory management
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation standards in compliance with local health regulations
  • Control food costs and minimize waste
  • Collaborate with baristas and management on menu pairings and limited-time offerings
  • Train and supervise junior pastry staff as needed


Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a Pastry Chef, Baker, or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of pastry techniques (baking, laminating, mousse, custards, etc.)
  • Experience working with matcha or Japanese-inspired desserts is highly preferred
  • Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Creative mindset with attention to detail
  • Food safety certification (as required by local regulations)

  • Preferred Qualities
    • Passion for specialty tea culture and matcha craftsmanship
    • Experience in boutique caf or specialty dessert concept
    • Knowledge of flavor pairing with ceremonial-grade matcha
    • Aesthetic plating and modern presentation skills
