Role Overview

The Oracle DBA will be responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, availability, and security of Oracle database platforms supporting critical enterprise applications. The role includes database modernization initiatives, cloud adoption, AWS RDS migrations, performance optimization, governance adherence, and collaboration with DevOps and data engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

Database Administration & Operations

• Monitor Oracle database performance and availability
• Manage backups, recovery readiness, and performance tuning
• Handle schema maintenance and troubleshooting

User & Access Management

• Create and manage database users, roles, and privileges
• Enforce least-privilege principles aligned with security standards
• Conduct access reviews for audit and compliance

Performance Optimization

• Diagnose SQL/query performance issues
• Optimize reporting workloads and long-running jobs
• Address concurrency and session bottlenecks
• Support workload and resource optimization planning

Cloud & DevOps Collaboration

• Integrate database processes into CI/CD pipelines
• Support hybrid and AWS cloud-based deployments
• Optimize AWS RDS performance and architecture

Data Migration & Cloud Services

• Plan and execute migrations to AWS RDS (Oracle & cross-engine)
• Conduct validation, cutover, and post-migration optimization
• Monitor AWS CloudWatch metrics and recommend improvements

Governance & Documentation

• Ensure adherence to audit, security, and regulatory frameworks
• Maintain detailed technical documentation
• Support audit readiness and remediation

Required Skills & Experience

Must Have:

• 5+ years of Oracle DBA experience in enterprise environments
• Strong expertise in user/role management and least-privilege models
• Advanced PL/SQL skills (procedures, packages, triggers, optimization)
• Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)
• Hands-on AWS RDS migration experience
• CloudWatch monitoring and RDS performance tuning
• Understanding of CI/CD practices and GitHub
• Familiarity with ITIL and compliance frameworks

Good to Have:

• Experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL
• Monitoring tools like Dynatrace
• Oracle OCP/OCA or AWS certifications
