Job Description
Key Skill - Oracle, DB2, Cloud Databases
Mandatory Skill -
- Strong experience with Oracle 12c & 19c administration
- Expertise in DB2 database management
- Hands on experience with cloud databases (Cosmos DB or similar)
- Proficiency in tablespaces, schemas, and storage management
- SQL query optimization and Oracle performance tuning
- Good understanding of Oracle Multitenant architecture (CDB/PDB)
- Shell scripting (bash/ksh) for automation
- On prem to cloud database migration experience
Desired Skills
- Experience performing routine DBA tasks such as:
- Database reorganization
- Statistics gathering
- Index rebuilds
- DB cleanup activities
- Experience creating database documentation, standards, and metadata
- Ability to monitor DB performance and manage parameters to ensure fast query response
- Experience handling production incidents, including DB shutdown/offline operations
- Ability to design or enhance database utilities and automated reporting
- Experience applying Oracle PSU/patch updates
- Collaboration skills for working with technical, application, and operations teams
Roles and Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Oracle (12c/19c), DB2, and cloud databases (e.g., Cosmos DB).
- Perform database upgrades, including Oracle version upgrades (12c 19c), patching, and applying PSU/CPU updates.
- Manage tablespaces, schemas, storage, users, and privileges in multi tenant architectures (CDB/PDB).
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as reorganization, statistics gathering, index rebuilding, and cleanup.
- Monitor database performance and tune SQL queries, indexes, and system parameters for optimal response times.
- Ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness through backups, restores, replication, and DR drills.
- Troubleshoot production database issues, including performance degradation, locking, capacity, and connectivity problems.
- Perform database startup/shutdown operations during planned or emergency events.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using bash/ksh for housekeeping and monitoring tasks.
- Manage on premise to cloud database migration activities, ensuring data consistency and minimal downtime.
- Implement strong security controls including user access management, encryption, and audit compliance.
- Create and maintain database documentation, metadata definitions, standards, and operational procedures.
- Collaborate closely with development, application, infrastructure, and operations teams to support business needs.
- Build and enhance database utilities, monitoring dashboards, and automated reporting solutions.
- Ensure adherence to data governance standards and support audit activities as required
