  1. ROLE PURPOSE & OBJECTIVE


Primarily responsible for the performance, integrity and security of a database. The role will also be involved in the planning and development of the database, as well as troubleshooting any issues on behalf of the users.

  • 20-30 Crores

  • Ensure DR database migration exercise is completed once in every quarter.

  • Complete month end database back-up activities on a timely basis to handover banking systems to business on the 1st of every month.

  • Number of vendors / consultants – Operational related – Managing 2 to 3 vendors.

  • Number of portfolio products – Managing Database Server environments of around 50+ applications.

  • Volume of products and services – Managing Database servers running with 24 critical applications and 26+ non-critical applications, supporting DR Drills, Supporting closure of RBI CSITE, Internal / External / Concurrent audits of IT Infrastructure department. Tracking the SSL certificates of all the applications.



  1. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE

  1. Business/ Financials

  • Managing database licenses according to the business needs.

  • Maintaining inventory of Databases in use.

  • Understanding different type licensing models available and using them strategically for the business


  1. Customer (Both Internal & External)

  • Co-coordinating with application vendors for Database related activities.

  • Identifies database requirements by interviewing customers (business users); analyzing department applications, programming, and operations; evaluating existing systems and designing proposed systems



  1. Internal Process

  • Monitoring and tuning health of Databases

  • Database User access management

  • Installation and configuration of database.

  • Database server’s Patch or service packs update.

  • Preparation of Weekly/Monthly Reports.

  • Database compliance management.

  • Sustain the security and integrity of data

  • Maintain database performance by calculating optimum values for database parameters; implementing new releases; completing maintenance requirements; evaluating computer operating systems and hardware products.

  • Maintain data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Act

  • Monitor the SLA’s of vendors

  • Adhere SLA’s related to business-critical services are met by the IT team - 85%

  • Adherence to timelines and Budgets for the projects under management - 95%

  • Lead and Manage vendor services in order to ensure that the services are being delivered as contracted and as per agreed SLA - 100%

  • Compliance to Regulatory requirements as per timelines committed - 100%

  • Prepare users by conducting training; providing information; resolving problems.

  • Ensure goal-setting, midyear -review and annual appraisal process happens within specified timelines for self

  • Provide direction and support to internal application development team

Educational

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field



Experience(Years and Core Experience Type)

3 - 5 Years of DBA experience

Functional Skills

  • Hands-on experience in multiple flavours of database servers – Oracle, SQL and DB2 is preferable.

  • Experience in Performance Monitoring and query tuning skills.

  • Experience in implementing and supporting databases for applications, web architectures

  • Good knowledge in scripting

  • Knowledge on Database security.

  • Experience in Data recovery under critical situations.

  • Good in performing Root Cause Analysis and providing solutions.

  • Good in stabilizing and standardizing the Database environments.

  • Sound knowledge and experience in replicating databases and migrating databases between platforms.
