Job Description

Specialist Optical Measurements, Data & Display Engineering


This position brings together optical metrology, data analysis, and a basic understanding of display electronics in one interdisciplinary role. We are looking for a curious and motivated engineer who enjoys working across technical domains and connecting measurement results with system-level understanding.

The role is embedded in automotive display development and offers the opportunity to work at the interface of optics, electronics, and data-driven engineering.

We encourage candidates who are interested in using modern digital tools and artificial intelligence to improve engineering workflows. Experience with AI-supported methods is welcome, and we are open to candidates who are eager to further develop their skills in this area.


Experience: 5 to 12 Years


Optical Metrology & Measurements

  • Prepare and maintain optical measurement setups for displays and input devices
  • Perform photometric and colorimetric measurements (e.g. luminance, uniformity, color, contrast, mura)
  • Analyze optical measurement results and support root cause investigations
  • Document measurement setups, parameters, and results
  • Create measurement reports and present results to international project teams
  • Support calibration and continuous improvement of optical equipment and processes


Data Management, Automation & Analysis

  • Support quality, availability, and traceability of optical, production, and test data
  • Contribute to data validation and monitoring concepts
  • Assist in developing data pipelines for measurement and production data
  • Support automation of data processing, KPI calculation, and reporting
  • Help extract meaningful insights from datasets and relate them to technical questions
  • Contribute to dashboards and data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI, Python-based tools)


Display Electronics & Interface Understanding

  • Support optical validation activities while considering display driving conditions
  • Develop understanding of display timing parameters and signal interfaces
  • Gain familiarity with automotive video interfaces (e.g., GMSL2/3, FPD-Link III/IV, LVDS, HDMI)
  • Collaborate with system and hardware engineers on display-related topics
  • Support debugging activities by correlating optical behavior with system conditions


Digital & AI-Supported Engineering

  • Explore the use of AI-based tools to increase efficiency in measurement evaluation and data analysis
  • Support development of automated workflows for anomaly detection and reporting
  • Use modern digital tools to simplify documentation and data handling tasks
  • Contribute ideas on how digital methods can improve validation processes


QUALIFICATIONS


Education & Experience

  • University degree in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Automation, Computer Science, Informatics, or a comparable field
  • Initial experience in optical measurements, laboratory environments, or testing is welcome
  • Experience in data analysis or automation is an advantage


Optical & Technical Skills

  • Understanding of photometric and colorimetric measurement methods
  • Interest in display technologies (LCD, OLED, MicroLED, optical films, LEDs)
  • Awareness of measurement accuracy, calibration, and reproducibility


Display & Interface Knowledge

  • Interest in display driving principles and pixel addressing concepts
  • Basic familiarity or willingness to learn automotive video interfaces such as GMSL, FPD-Link, LVDS, or HDMI
  • General awareness of automotive communication tools (e.g., CANoe) is beneficial


Data & Programming Skills

  • Experience with Python or other programming languages for data analysis
  • Familiarity with data analysis libraries (e.g., NumPy, Pandas) is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of SQL or BI tools is welcome
  • Interest in automation, image processing, or machine learning is an advantage


Digital & AI Mindset

  • Curiosity about AI tools and digital methods in engineering
  • Willingness to experiment with AI-supported workflows
  • Ability to critically reflect and validate digital or AI-generated results
