Job Description
Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable Occupational Therapist to support a well-behaved 19-year-old autistic young man with engagement, skill-building, and participation in community and recreational activities. This role focuses on functional independence, sensory-motor regulation, social participation during activities, and confidence-building through structured, enjoyable movement-based routines (e.g., jogging, basketball, swimming, and other fitness/leisure activities).
This position offers flexible hours, excellent pay, and the option to transition into a full-time role based on mutual fit and availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 occupational therapy support tailored to a 19-year-old on the autism spectrum.
- Build structured routines to increase participation in physical and recreational activities (jogging, basketball, swimming, gym/fitness, walking trails, etc.).
- Support motor planning, coordination, endurance, and functional movement patterns in a safe, motivating manner.
- Promote self-regulation strategies (sensory and emotional), transitions, and attention during activities.
- Support community integration: sports facilities, parks, pools, recreation centers, and appropriate social settings.
- Develop and track simple measurable goals (participation, endurance, confidence, skill progression).
- Collaborate with family/caregivers to align goals, routines, and strategies; provide coaching and carryover recommendations.
- Maintain basic session notes and progress updates as required.
Schedule & Work Arrangement
- Flexible schedule (weekday and/or weekend options available).
- Part-time initially, with the option to expand to full-time hours.
- Sessions may include indoor and outdoor community settings (parks, courts, pools, recreation centers).
Compensation

Qualifications
- Licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) (or eligibility to practice).
- Experience working with adolescents/young adults with autism and/or neurodivergent individuals preferred.
- Strong skills in functional goal-setting, sensory strategies, and activity-based interventions.
- Comfortable supporting physical/recreational activities and community-based sessions.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation preferred (if travel to community locations is required).
- Patient, encouraging, and able to build rapport with a young adult in a respectful, strengths-based manner.
