Observability Engineer
Role Overview
Seeking a detail oriented Observability Engineer to design, implement, and manage monitoring platforms (Primary Dynatrace). This role supports scalable observability across infrastructure, enabling actionable insights for application teams.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Operations & Maintenance
- Upgrade and maintain LogicMonitor collectors and Dynatrace private locations.
- Manage Dynatrace modules, users, and usage optimisation.
- Review platform usage and optimise costs across monitoring tools.
Application Onboarding & Enablement
- Onboard applications into Dynatrace; set up access and groups.
- Estimate and advise on usage costs.
- Help teams configure metric, log, synthetic, and RUM monitors.
- Support APM setup for Dynatrace integrated apps.
Dashboarding & Visualisation
- Build dashboards in Dynatrace, Grafana, and Extrahop.
- Create unified dashboards in Grafana from multiple data sources.
- Advise teams on visualisations and alert strategies.
Integration & Alerting
- Configure integrations with cloud, network, and storage systems.
- Tune alerts and manage routing across platforms.
- Maintain observability pipelines with Cribl Stream.
Automation & Scripting
- Develop Python scripts for workflow automation.
- Use Terraform to manage infrastructure as code.
- Integrate platforms via REST APIs; build reusable modules for onboarding and dashboard deployment.
Innovation & AI Features
- Implement new AI powered observability features.
- Track emerging trends and tools.
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years experience in Dynatrace, infra monitoring, or SRE
- Experience with Dynatrace
- Knowledge of AWS, Azure, GCP
- Proficient in Python and REST API integration
- Terraform automation experience
- Familiarity with dashboarding and alerting
Preferred
- Experience with Cribl Stream and pipelines
- Knowledge of Extrahop
- Platform cost optimisation expertise
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
