Node JS Backend Engineer

About Position:

Were hiring a Backend Engineer focused on modern Node.js development. Youll design and implement REST APIs, model data with Sequelize, write clean and maintainable JavaScript (ES6+), and own services from design to production. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, selfdriven, and comfortable taking endtoend ownership.

What You'll Do:

• Design, build, and maintain Fastifybased REST APIs following best practices for versioning, pagination, and error handling.
• Define request/response contracts with JSON Schema and enforce validation.
• Model core domain entities using Sequelize; write efficient SQL, optimize queries, and manage schema migrations.
• Keep code quality high with ESLint, code reviews, and incremental refactoring.
• Ship with confidence via Docker and CI/CD (e.g., GitHub Actions) to AWS (S3, EC2 and related services).
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize services with metrics and logging; contribute to runbooks.
• Collaborate with product and engineering peers to scope, estimate, and deliver small, safe increments.

Expertise You'll Bring:

• 3 to 5 years of professional experience building backend services in Node.js/JavaScript (ES6+).
• Strong knowledge of Fastify (or similar highperformance Node framework) and REST API design.
• Proficiency with Sequelize (or an equivalent ORM) and PostgreSQL/MySQL, Database Models, solid SQL fundamentals and migration experience.
• Handson with JWT, RBAC, and multitenant access control patterns.
• Experience writing automated tests (Mocha/Chai or Jest) and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Comfortable with Docker, Git, and package managers (npm/yarn).
• Motivated, proactive, and ownershiporiented; excellent written and verbal communication.
• Comfortable with GraphQL, ELK, Json Schema.
• TypeScript for safer APIs and maintainable service contracts.
• JSON Schemafirst development and Fastify schema validation expertise.
• Designing idempotent/background jobs, retry strategies, and backpressure handling.
• Observability tooling (metrics, tracing, logging) and performance tuning.
• AWS fundamentals (IAM, networking, cost awareness,) and blue/green or canary deploys.
• Understanding Data Security and Risk management is an added advantage.
