Job Description
This is a key role in the LSEG network Design & Engineering (D&E) Team! This role will provide technical leadership and people management skills as part of a transformation to a Product aligned organisation, grouped around network products and services.
The Product Owner for Network Services will work with the Product Management Team and architecture team to build a technical engineering roadmap which the product owner is accountable for delivering.
The team uses Agile methodology for some product areas and the product owner will also continue the move to Agile methodology and introduce these ways of working across all product areas responsible for.
The role includes driving technologies to automated practices and includes management of developers as well as network engineering abilities.
The Product Owner will lead the D&E Network Services Team, which is primarily responsible for the engineering and automation of these network technologies:
- Firewalls & DMZ (Checkpoint, Fortinet)
- Load Balancers (F5)
- DDI Technologies (Infoblox & in house tools)
The candidate should have significant engineering experience in two of these areas
Main responsibilities:
The team is responsible for building the technical roadmaps, policies, standards, engineering procedures and blueprints for relevant network environments and ensuring that there is an automation roadmap for products in portfolio!
This includes typical responsibilities such as
- Technical delivery planning of large, complex transformation projects and the engineering for such projects
- Responsible for life-cycle engineering roadmap of environments
- Responsible for working with both internal and external teams to own RFI's and RFP's
- Responsible for leading a team of engineers including the approval of timesheets, training/development plans, objective setting, appraisals, mentoring and ensuring required training is completed
- Influencing external vendors to drive solutions that are fit for purpose for the business
- Responsible for senior leadership engagement
- Responsible for providing governance over other teams where applicable
- Have a mentality for continuous improvement and always seeking to drive improvements in both technology and process, both inside and outside of the team
- Knowledge and experience of Agile working practices
Required Skills:
This is a senior People Leader role with a requirement for a very good technical understanding of Networks. This includes and is not limited to network services.
- Bachelors degree or equivalent in an IT related field or equivalent experience
- Significant experience in Architecture / Engineering
- Exposure to leading automated practices
- Experience of working in a service based model with SREs at the heart of delivery is beneficial
- Experience of working with large scale projects and acting as a customer concern point
- Experience working in large global financial, enterprise or service provider network environments
- Leadership in direct and matrix environments
- Resource planning and management
- Stakeholder management and communications capabilities up to C-level
- Communication and teamwork on a technical and business level
