Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) responsible for the stability, performance, security, and scalability of our OLTP database environments . The role requires deep, hands-on expertise with MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server and proven experience managing high-availability production systems , complex upgrades, and mission-critical database migrations.

Mandatory Technical Skills

You should have worked on MySQL DB as DBA hands on for minimum of 5 years

• MySQL (Production-grade) MUST HAVE
• Strong experience with high availability (HA) architectures
• Expertise in database upgrades, migrations, and controlled rollouts
• Hands-on experience with Percona Cluster environments

Key Responsibilities

Database Operations & Stability

• Ensure all OLTP databases remain stable, secure, and performant at all times
• Proactively identify, investigate, and resolve performance bottlenecks to minimize business impact
• Maintain and optimize routine administrative tasks including:
• Index maintenance
• Statistics updates
• Capacity planning
• Storage and partition management

Performance Optimization

• Identify high-resource-consuming queries and collaborate with application teams to improve efficiency
• Perform query tuning, indexing strategies, and execution plan analysis
• Build monitoring dashboards to detect performance gaps and enable faster incident triage

Backup, Recovery & Replication

• Design, implement, and maintain:
• Backup and restore strategies
• Replication and log shipping mechanisms
• Ensure data availability and disaster recovery readiness across environments
• Conduct periodic recovery testing and validation

High Availability & Migrations (Critical)

• Design, implement, and manage high availability database systems
• Execute controlled upgrades with:
• Rollout plans
• Downtime mitigation strategies
• Rollback procedures
• Perform version migrations with detailed risk assessment and impact analysis
• Hands-on creation and management of:
• MySQL clusters and de-clusters
• MS SQL Server clusters

Security & Access Control

• Manage database security in alignment with IT and security policies
• Implement and maintain:
• Roles and permissions
• Access controls
• Audit and compliance requirements

Data & Stakeholder Collaboration

• Work end-to-end with stakeholders to align on data requirements
• Ensure timely and accurate delivery of required datasets
• Build workflows that support reporting, analytics, and operational needs

Required Experience & Knowledge

• Strong hands-on experience with:
• MySQL
• Microsoft SQL Server
• Proven expertise in:
• Performance tuning and optimization
• Indexing strategies and execution plan analysis
• Backup, restore, and replication setups
• Solid understanding of:
• Database security principles (roles, permissions, access controls)
• Storage, partitioning, and log shipping use cases

Good to Have

• Experience with cloud-managed database services
• Exposure to observability and monitoring platforms
• Experience supporting large-scale eCommerce or transactional systems
• Familiarity with CI/CD-driven database change management
