Murex Lead

1. Purpose of the Role

The Murex Lead plays a pivotal role in delivering high-quality technology solutions for NAB's Markets business, with a focus on FX and Commodities product lines. The role leads a multi-disciplinary engineering and functional team supporting the development, enhancement, and stability of the Murex platform across global regions.

This role ensures delivery excellence, system reliability, strong stakeholder engagement, and alignment with NAB's strategic priorities, while fostering a culture of collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement.

2. Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities

Platform Ownership & Delivery

Lead end-to-end solution delivery across Murex modules (Front Office, Back Office, Risk, Market Data, Integration)

Oversee analysis, development, configuration, testing, deployment, and BAU support activities

Ensure adherence to NAB's engineering standards, SDLC practices, and change/release governance

Team Leadership

Provide hands-on leadership to engineers, analysts, and functional SMEs

Collaborate with Traders, Quants, Operations, Market Risk, and Product Control teams to understand business needs

Provide expert guidance on FX and Commodities workflows, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices

Act as the primary escalation point for production priorities impacting Markets business functions

Platform Stability & Risk Management

Ensure operational stability and proactively manage incidents, defects, and capacity risks

Uphold NAB's risk and compliance obligations across operational, technology, and regulatory domains

Continuous Improvement

Drive performance uplift by modernising tooling, automation, and engineering best practices

Seek efficiency opportunities across processes, workflows, and technology stack

3. Essential Capabilities

Technical Expertise

Minimum 17+ years of total experience, with extensive hands-on Murex expertise

Deep understanding of:

Trade lifecycle across FX and Commodities

Murex datamodel, workflows, MxML, MxMLExchange, EOD batches, MDRS

APIs, integration patterns, and messaging frameworks

Strong experience coordinating with vendor teams

At least 3+ years in a technical/engineering or functional leadership role within Capital Markets

Experience delivering in a global follow-the-sun model, coordinating with Australia and international teams

Communication & Stakeholder Management

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Ability to influence outcomes across cross-functional teams

4. Experience Requirements

Proven delivery experience on large-scale Murex upgrade, migration, and regulatory programs

Background in Investment Banking / Markets technology teams, preferable CIB context

Significant experience interacting with trading desks, risk teams, and operations

5. Qualification Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Finance, or related discipline

Certifications in Capital Markets or Murex modules beneficial (e.g., NCFM certifications)
