Kai and Nav can only be as trustworthy as the platform beneath them. Your work turns principles into APIs: leastprivilege by default, idempotent by design, observable at every hop, and costaware always.

What youll do

• Design and ship multitenant services for authN/Z, memory, consent ledger, billing, notifications, and webhooks .
• Implement ratelimits, idempotency keys, retries , and backoffs that survive the real world.
• Build observability (OpenTelemetry traces, metrics, logs), SLOs, error budgets, and canary releases.
• Partner with Security/Privacy on tokenization, encryption, key rotation, access scopes, and audit trails.
• Own performance budgets: keep p95 latency tight and unit costs trending down.
• Keep CI/CD boring and fast; automate rollbacks; write runbooks people actually use.

30 / 60 / 90 outcomes

• 30 days : Service templates and CI/CD live; auth flow + service identity running; baseline tracing and dashboards; golden read/write paths defined.
• 60 days : Memory + consent ledger GA for design partners; idempotent webhooks; ratelimit governance; staged rollouts; oncall with clear playbooks.
• 90 days : > 99.95% uptime on core APIs; p95 : auth <150 ms, memory read <100 ms, write <150 ms; 30% infra cost drop vs week2 baseline; incident MTTR <30 m .

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Member of Technical Staff (MTS) - Backend Platforms Engineer located in Mumbai. The Backend Platforms Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend systems to support Hushhs products and services. Key responsibilities include developing APIs, integrating secure data workflows, managing cloud infrastructure, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient data processing and storage. The role requires implementing best practices for performance optimization, scalability, and system security to deliver high-quality backend solutions.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in backend development with expertise in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Node.js
• Strong understanding of API design, RESTful services, and microservices architecture
• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure, along with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Knowledge of database systems, including relational (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra)
• Familiarity with data security standards, privacy protocols, and secure coding practices
• Demonstrated ability in optimizing system performance and implementing scalable solutions
• Problem-solving skills, teamwork, and communication abilities to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
• Experience in the fintech or data privacy domains is a plus
