About the Role

We are hiring a highly skilled Motor Design Engineer for Indias leading OEM in personal mobility and urban transportation, exporting two- and three-wheelers to 70+ countries with ~USD 6 Billion revenue last fiscal year.

This role focuses on end-to-end design, development, and validation of high-efficiency traction motors for Electric Vehicles.


Eligibility Criteria

Education (Mandatory):

BE/BTech/ME/MTech in:

  • Electronics
  • Electronics & Telecommunication (E&TC)
  • Instrumentation Engineering


Experience Required: 515 years in EV motor design and analysis.

Key Responsibilities

Traction Motor Conceptualisation & Design:

  • Design high-efficiency electric machine topologies including:
  • Switched Reluctance Motors (SRM)
  • Synchronous Reluctance Motors (SynchREL)
  • PMSM / BLDC traction motors
  • Generator systems for EV/HEV
  • Perform electromagnetic design using ANSYS Maxwell (2D/3D), Altair Flux, MotorCAD, SPEED.
  • Evaluate machine topologies, pole configurations, winding types, and magnetic materials for EV/HEV applications.

Analysis & Simulation:

  • Execute electromagnetic simulation, motor sizing, performance prediction, and PM selection.
  • Conduct thermal analysis, cooling system evaluation, and 1D thermal modelling in MotorCAD.
  • Ensure mechanical feasibility through cross-functional collaboration.

Prototype Development & Validation:

  • Support prototype builds, dyno testing, vehicle-level validation, and DVP&R execution.
  • Benchmark motors for efficiency, cost, manufacturability, and durability.
  • Address complex design challenges within project timelines.

Technical & Functional Skills Required

  • Strong understanding of EV/HEV powertrain systems and drivetrain architecture.
  • Expertise in:
  • Electromagnetic simulation (ANSYS Maxwell, Altair Flux, MotorCAD, SPEED)
  • Motor control strategies (PMSM, BLDC, SynRM, SRM)
  • Thermal design and cooling methodologies
  • Winding design, magnetic material selection, and noise/heat considerations
  • Experience with:
  • IM, IPM, SynRM, SRM, and traction motor development
  • Matlab/Simulink, Simscape, Python scripting
  • Working knowledge of power electronics interfaces.
  • CAD familiarity (UG NX preferred).
  • Strong documentation and engineering report-writing capability.
