Microsoft Email Security Engineer

The Microsoft Email Security Engineer is responsible for providing technical support and operational expertise for the organizations email and collaboration security. This role focuses on the deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Microsoft Defender for Office 365 and Exchange Online Protection, ensuring robust protection against threats such as phishing, malware, and business email compromise. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Microsoft security solutions and a passion for delivering excellent support to end-users and technical teams.

Work model: Hybrid working (3 days / week in office)

Work hours: Monthly Rotational Shifts (9 hours)

Goals and deliverables

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Support: Provide Tier 2/3 support for Microsoft Defender for Office 365, including incident response, threat investigation, and user assistance.
• Issue Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve security incidents, alerts, and service requests related to email and collaboration security.
• Monitoring: Continuously monitor security dashboards, alerts, and reports to identify and respond to threats in a timely manner.
• Configuration & Optimization: Assist with the configuration, tuning, and optimization of Defender for Office 365 policies and rules to enhance security posture.
• User Education: Support end-users and internal teams with guidance on safe email practices and Defender for Office 365 features.
• Documentation: Develop and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and knowledge base articles.
• Collaboration: Work closely with IT, security, compliance, and business teams to ensure effective incident management and alignment with organizational policies.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on Microsoft Defender for Office 365 enhancements and industry best practices to improve support and security effectiveness.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience in technical support, IT security, or security operations roles.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Defender for Office 365 and Microsoft 365 security tools.
• Strong understanding of email security threats and mitigation strategies.
• Proficient troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, etc).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Customer-oriented mindset and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft certifications (e.g., MS-500, SC-200, or equivalent).
• Experience with security incident response and investigation.
• Knowledge of scripting or automation (PowerShell, etc.).
• Experience supporting users in a multinational or regulated environment.

SC-200, Microsoft 365 security tools ,Windows Powershell,Microsoft Defender for Office 365, MS-500 - should be good in these skills
