Who This Role Is ForThis role is ideal for fashion or textile merchandisers with 2+ years of experience who enjoy client interaction and want to grow into institutional sales and key account ownership.
This is not a pure sales role.
You will do well here if you:
- Understand fabrics, knits vs wovens, GSM, and garment construction
- Are comfortable interacting with school principals, directors, and admin teams
- Can convert client requirements into clear briefs for production teams
- Enjoy long-term relationships rather than one-time sales
As a Merchandiser Institutional Sales, you will be the client-facing merchandising partner for school uniform accounts.
The role sits at the intersection of:
Merchandising Client Management Institutional Sales
You will support new school onboarding and manage ongoing accounts by ensuring technical clarity, smooth coordination, and consistent service delivery.
Key ResponsibilitiesClient & Account Management- Act as a key point of contact for:
- School Principals
- Directors / Trustees
- Admin & Purchase Heads
- Support institutional sales discussions with strong merchandising and technical inputs
- Build long-term relationships for renewals, expansions, and repeat orders
- Understand and explain:
- Knits vs wovens
- Fabric composition, GSM, durability
- Fit, comfort, and garment construction for school uniforms
- Coordinate sampling, approvals, and revisions
- Translate school requirements into clear briefs for internal merchandising, sourcing, and production teams
- Support the institutional sales cycle, including:
- Client meetings and presentations
- Sampling coordination
- Commercial discussions (with internal support)
- School onboarding
- Act as a bridge between:
- Client commitments and production feasibility
- Sales team and internal operations
- Work closely with:
- Merchandising
- Sourcing
- Production
- Operations & customer support
- Ensure timelines, specifications, and expectations are aligned across teams
- Educational background in Fashion / Textiles, such as:
- NIFT
- Fashion Technology
- Fashion Designing
- B.Tech / Diploma in Textiles
- Solid understanding of:
- Fabrics (knits & wovens)
- Garment construction
- Apparel production basics
- 25 years experience in:
- Apparel merchandising with client interaction
- Institutional or uniform merchandising
- B2B apparel roles involving coordination with buyers or clients
- Prior exposure to school or institutional uniforms is a strong plus (not mandatory)
- Merchandising-first mindset with commercial awareness
- Comfortable discussing both technical and pricing aspects
- Clear communicator who can simplify fabric concepts for non-fashion clients
- Strong coordination, follow-up, and ownership skills
- Relationship-driven and detail-oriented
