Position: MEP Manager
Location: Dayananda Sagar University, Bengaluru

Role overview:
The MEP Manager will be responsible for planning, execution, operation and maintenance of all Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire & ELV systems across Dayananda Sagar University and associated hospital facilities. The role will ensure safe, reliable, compliant and energy-efficient building services in an environment that includes academic blocks, laboratories, hostels and healthcare spaces.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead planning, design coordination, installation, testing, commissioning and O&M of all MEP systems (HVAC, electrical distribution, DG, UPS, lifts, plumbing, STP/ETP, fire protection, medical gases, ELV/BMS).
- Coordinate with architects, structural/civil teams, hospital administration and endusers to integrate MEP requirements for academic buildings, hostels, research labs and clinical areas (ICUs, OTs, diagnostics, inpatient wards).
- Review and validate MEP designs, load calculations, shop drawings, BOQs and technical submittals, ensuring compliance with NBC, KSPCB, CEIG, KPTCL, Fire Department and applicable hospital guidelines (NABH/NABL norms from MEP perspective).
- Prepare and manage MEP project budgets, timelines and resource plans; monitor progress, quality, safety and cost, and drive timely completion of new projects, refurbishments and major repairs.
- Manage vendors, consultants, contractors and inhouse technicians; finalize technical specifications, participate in technocommercial evaluations and support procurement of MEP equipment and services.
- Implement and monitor preventive and breakdown maintenance programs for all MEP assets; ensure minimal downtime for critical hospital and university operations.
- Drive energy management, power quality and water conservation initiatives; analyze utility consumption, identify optimization opportunities and implement improvement projects.
- Establish, document and enforce MEP SOPs, checklists, emergency response plans (power failure, fire, critical equipment failure) aligned to hospital and university requirements.
- Ensure all statutory compliances, inspections and renewals related to electrical installations, lifts, boilers, fire systems, pollution control, pressure vessels, DG sets etc. are timely and accurate.
- Maintain accurate records of assets, AMCs, warranties, maintenance history and statutory documents; provide periodic MIS reports to management.
- Champion safety culture within the MEP team; ensure adherence to safety protocols, lockout/tagout, PPE usage and safe work practices for contractors and internal staff.
- Support expansion projects, campus master planning and new hospital/university facilities by providing inputs on MEP strategy, capacity planning and phasing.
Qualifications and experience:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Civil / Building Services Engineering from a recognized university; a diploma with strong experience may be considered.
- 1015 years of relevant experience in MEP execution and facilities management, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
- Mandatory handson experience in large hospital projects/facilities (HVAC for OTs/ICUs, medical gases, critical power, fire & life safety) and in institutional / university / campus environments.
- Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards related to MEP, fire and safety, and statutory approvals in Karnataka.
- Proven experience in managing multiple projects/sites, vendor and contractor management, and leading multidisciplinary technical teams.
