Role Overview

The MEP Manager will oversee the planning, coordination, execution, and quality control of all Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Fighting, HVAC, BMS, and ELV systems in a mall or commercial building project. The role ensures that all services are integrated seamlessly with civil and architectural works.


Key Responsibilities

1. Planning & Coordination

  • Prepare detailed MEP execution plans, sequencing, and milestone schedules.
  • Coordinate with consultants, architects, and design teams for design validation.
  • Ensure availability of approved drawings, material submittals, and method statements.

2. Execution & Technical Oversight

  • Supervise execution of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, drainage, STP/ETP, fire-fighting, and other building services.
  • Ensure installations meet technical specifications, industry standards, and design requirements.
  • Review shop drawings, GFC drawings, and coordinate MEP approval processes.

3. Quality Assurance & Testing

  • Monitor quality of installation through inspections, ITPs, and MEP checklists.
  • Lead testing & commissioning (T&C) activities for all MEP systems.
  • Ensure proper documentation of test reports, snag lists, and closure reports.

4. Interface Coordination

  • Coordinate MEP works with civil, faade, interiors, and structural teams.
  • Resolve clashes through RFI/technical queries and coordinate MEP services with BIM teams.
  • Ensure smooth integration of MEP systems during fit-out and finishing stages.

5. Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure MEP works adhere to statutory norms (electrical safety, fire NOCs, environmental regulations).
  • Monitor safety compliance of MEP contractors on site.

6. Vendor & Contractor Management

  • Manage MEP contractors, specialist vendors, and OEM representatives.
  • Verify material deliveries, specifications, and ensure timely procurement.
  • Review contractor bills, variations, and material reconciliations.

7. Project Controls & Reporting

  • Track progress of MEP activities against baseline.
  • Report MEP progress, delays, risks, and mitigation plans to the Project Manager.
  • Maintain all MEP documentation for audits and handover.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong technical expertise in HVAC, electrical systems, fire fighting, plumbing, and BMS.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (MEP, architectural, structural).
  • Proficiency in MEP software tools (AutoCAD, REVIT MEP, HAP, Dialux, etc.).
  • Strong project coordination and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of local building codes, NBC, and fire safety regulations.

Qualifications

  • B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (mandatory).
  • MEP certification or advanced training in building services (preferred).
