Materials / Chemical Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Materials / Chemical Engineer to support the development, optimization, and manufacture of biocompatible medical devices.

Experience: 6-12 years

Location: Bangalore/Chennai/Hyderabad

Notice Period: Immediate Joiners Only

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret engineering design requirements with a deep understanding of materials and chemical behavior.
• Act as a materials subject matter expert for NPD initiatives and design changes, translating complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
• Support formulation development, material selection, chemical risk analysis, and process feasibility.
• Select and evaluate polymers, elastomers, adhesives, coatings, metals, and silicones for biocompatible medical devices.
• Develop, troubleshoot, and optimize chemico-thermal processes including extrusion, molding, surface treatment, mixing, bonding, coating, and curing.
• Optimize existing manufacturing processes for scalability, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
• Assess chemical compatibility of device components with drugs, cleaning agents, lubricants, and sterilization methods.
• Support design verification and validation activities (chemical testing, biocompatibility, aging studies).
• Ensure compliance with ISO 13485, ISO 10993, ISO 14644, FDA 21 CFR Part 820, and EU MDR.
• Conduct and interpret analytical and material testing (FTIR, DSC, TGA, GC-MS, GPC, rheometry, viscosity, and mechanical testing).

Skills & Technical Expertise

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Strong working knowledge of Minitab, CAD software, and Mold Flow analysis.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication (verbal and written), and project management skills.
