Overview
We are seeking an experienced Marine Superintendent (Master Mariner) with strong expertise in Chemical Tankers , particularly in complex parceling (multi-grade cargo) operations . The role focuses on ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient vessel operations while supporting the shipboard team and driving continuous improvement across the fleet.
What Will You Do?
- Ensure vessels operate safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM, ISPS, and company standards.
- Oversee chemical cargo operations , including loading, discharging, tank cleaning, and complex parceling involving multiple grades, segregation, cargo heating, and stowage compatibility.
- Guide Masters and Chief Officers on cargo stowage planning , parcel sequencing, and chemical compatibility.
- Conduct vessel inspections, navigational audits, safety drills , and operational readiness checks.
- Monitor ship performance, fuel consumption, cargo efficiency , and voyage execution.
- Oversee maintenance, repairs, and dry-docking , ensuring minimal downtime and effective cost control.
- Manage and prepare vessels for SIRE/VIQ and CDI inspections , ensuring audit readiness at all times.
- Investigate incidents, near-misses, and NCRs ; develop corrective and preventive actions.
- Liaise with charterers, terminals, agents, classification societies , and port authorities to support flawless port operations.
- Ensure statutory, class, and safety certificates remain valid and updated .
- Review and strengthen the Safety Management System (ISM Code compliance) .
- Lead crew familiarization, training, and emergency preparedness drills tailored to chemical tanker operations.
- Prepare operational reports and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support the commercial team by ensuring vessels remain fully compliant and ready for charter commitments.
The Must-Haves
- Valid Master Mariner Certificate of Competency .
- Prior sailing experience as Master on Chemical Tankers (experience with parcels/multi-grade cargo handling is highly desirable).
- Strong knowledge of maritime regulations, tanker operations, cargo systems, and safety frameworks.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to guide shipboard teams effectively.
